I thought of you this morning when I stumbled upon this thread.;)

OH and I had an argument the other day when I was slagging off a mate for spending hundreds of pounds he doesn't really have on a must have pram/pushchair/car sear gimmick. It was mostly focused on my comment "why don't they just get a second hand functional one off eBay that's what I would to do".
This caused an eruption from OH who apparently won't be getting any second hand crap for "her children". I don't think I helped when I asked whether we would need to get a brand new one for each new child or when I suggested that second hand clothes bought on eBay would be fine for babies.0 -
Great way to get homesick. I thought if look up to see if Pharoh Sanders is playing any time soon. Turns out he's playing in Le New Morning, the greatest jazz club I've been to, in May. I used to live about 30 yards up the road from it.
I miss being able to go to Europe at the drop of a hat. I once took Mrs Generali to France for a surprise. We drove down to Dover and just sort of got on the ferry one Saturday.0 -

Would you wear second hand clothes bought on Ebay?;)I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I worked out that Mrs Generali and I, if we were to go back to Kent and sign on, would get roughly that for the two of us and two kids.
I'm not convinced that's viable in the long term.0 -

5 of us spend 1700 a month after deducting mortgage, council tax, house repairs and school dinners and that includes running two cars including an allowance for depreciation and DW spending a fortune on kids clothes so I can't see that living on 1450 a month for 4 would be 'breadline'.
Then again today I got pretty pee'd off re DD2's ballet, I don't mind paying for the lessons but she wants to be in the end of term show like all the others - for which there is a compulsory costume for 30 quid which she would use once. Carefully engineered to make you feel like you are a terrible parent in-front of all the other parents if you don't want to pay for it.I think....0
