Would you wear second hand clothes bought on Ebay?;)
A bit like the Soylent Green moment we've been going through "Cheap beef is horses!";)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Actually DW was horrified when I boought some whoopsied waitrose haggises the other day. She asked how I could I trust what's in it what with the current dodgy meat scandal. I hadn't the heart to tell her from what I knew's in haggis, if it was"contaminated" with horsemeat, that would be more like an upgrade!:eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

The compromise Mrs Generali and I came to was we got a fancy cot that became a bed and later a sofa. It cost a lot but lasts them until adulthood so not so bad in the end. We also got an expensive buggy because you spend a lot of time pushing them about in it and they are genuinely better.
Clothes we bought were from Tesco. We fit out my son with 6 month old stuff entirely for £28 in 2005. Perhaps that would be £35 today. The fancy stuff was pretty much all presents except the christening gown which we bought as an antique as it was beautiful, cheaper than new and saleable at original price if needs be!
Toys were mostly from NCT sales and gifts. NCT sales are great.0 -
5 of us spend 1700 a month after deducting mortgage, council tax, house repairs and school dinners and that includes running two cars including an allowance for depreciation and DW spending a fortune on kids clothes so I can't see that living on 1450 a month for 4 would be 'breadline'.
Then again today I got pretty pee'd off re DD2's ballet, I don't mind paying for the lessons but she wants to be in the end of term show like all the others - for which there is a compulsory costume for 30 quid which she would use once. Carefully engineered to make you feel like you are a terrible parent in-front of all the other parents if you don't want to pay for it.
My parents had to pull me out of ballet in the end when the costumes I needed for the annual show started costing more than my dad was earning in a month....
I was not understanding at the time but now I am a parent, I know exactly where they were coming from...I was a little madam to them though. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I suppose there would be a market for second-hand underwear if it was alleged to have been worn by film/music stars! Could be an NPs dragon's den idea!
There Is a market for worn underwear full stop.
Yes, I would wear second hand clothes. ( depending on the item). I am just about to send some beautiful, beautiful hand knitted things to in in laws for their baby. Knitted by a friends mother, grown out of by her kid, and stunning. Other wise would have ended up on eBay where she gets peanuts for an item than on etsy or similar would possibly go for an awful lot.0 -
