Wow, things have changed, there certainly weren't staff patrolling halls of residence when I was a student to make sure we behaved...pretty lucky really.

We had staff who came around every now and then, but as long as you weren't doing anything particularly mental they left you alone. I did have quite a strange encounter with my halls 'warden' if that is the right word when he interviewed me on suspicion of committing a very serious crime. Luckily I had a solid alibi given that I was in Oxford rather than London at the relevant time, but it was a bit odd that he didn't report it to the police and decided to deal with it himself.

I used to live near East Sheen. You'll see lots of TV types around there as it's just south of the river from Shepherds Bush/White City.
My flatmate's aunt lived there (had been a comedy actress in a 70s sitcom).
Don't think you'l get quite so much for your money I'm afraid.

No, you're right. I don't think we can really afford to live there (as it is basically "here"). We could of course buy somewhere with three bedrooms there, pay the mortgage for 3-4 years then move again but I am dead set against paying £20k stamp duty for what is effectively a temporary home. Might as well just rent instead. I think I just need to keep showing OH pictures of 4 bed detached houses in other areas and comparing them to pokey railway worker cottages around here which are the same price.

Plane landing at Heathrow to home in 63 minutes, a new record.

Helped by luggage being tagged priority baggage and the baggage handlers noticing and complying with tags and pre-paid short stay car park. No queue at passport electronic readr gizmo and not much traffic.

Hahahahaha, you know what this was for :)

For the new NP we have, OH owns a bar in London :)

Back to the rat race tomorrow; What have the NP with kids done for half-term?

Sadly in a lot of London railway cottages are the standard starter home. We saw loads that were pokey and useless but finally found an absolute gem we bought.

NM has a range of houses a lot bigger than the ones in surrounding areas and with more outside space. It's a pretty leafy suburb. Kingston, Richond, Worcester Park, Raynes Park Surbiton Twickers Teddington you'd be lucky to find room to swing a cat (if such a mood took you).

15k round Richmond park this morning into an arctic wind with horizontal sleet. my legs are like lead and calves like blocks of concrete.

Refuelled in the pub. Mate refuses to consider new Malden and his OH has vetoed fleet. Apparently we're moving to sheen instead. That's about 500 yards away so at least the moving costs would be low.

15! Did you miss out the decimal point?

Having said that, I've got a mad idea to cycle across the Nulabor in winter 2014. That's even more stupid than running 15km in the snow.

I thought the exemption on duty was for personal consumption? Bit of a risk selling the stuff at your bar, I'd have thought.

It's all UK duty paid, I promise :)

The only thing in my car that's not UK paid is 400 cigarettes (now about 360, I think, but I've smoked them) and 2 bottles of vodka, which is for personal consumption over the next few weeks

These both came from Ukraine, and as such are legally here, as they won't be sold. The only thing we do import is Georgian wine, and the duty on that is , but it still gets paid.

Just got into the office, and our fleet manager has lovingly made me the below. How lovely :)

Would it be possible to have a complete set of whatever you need in the flat, so you can just travel with hand luggage?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Obviously this would be possible for you and I as it would consist of about five items of clothing and one pair of shoes, but would you give your OH your credit card and tell her to buy a "complete set of whatever you need" to put in a holiday flat?!

Just received an email from my daughter SB, which is always very welcome, but we are disturbed to hear that the lift in the Halls where she lives has been out of order for a week now, SB is on ninth floor of the Halls and has to walk the stairs a few times a day.

Surely in the interest of safety this should be attended to, this lift has broken down quite a few times since she has been there.

A lift being broken would be a nightmare for James...he would spend more time putting back dislocating joints on the way down that he would miss lecture time!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
