My hellebores are nodding happily in full bloom, and the snow drops are still going strong, but the sweet box is looking a little tired.

the lilac is heavy with bud, I saw three daisies yesterday and a fair few dandelions, and today noticed the first japonica flower has popped from bud (annoyingly at the back of the plant). And the primroses I planted last year are blooming away merrily on the wild flower bank.

Life is appearing everywhere, green buds on trees, And plants ...getting ready, getting ready.....

Netweather seems to think there is a good chance of a snowy weekend possibly followed by a really cold snap - I hope they are all quite hardy!
    I think....

You didn't claim on your insurance?

The reason that we did not claim on the insurance was the fact that it was avoidable and we did not think that we would be entertained by the Insurance Company with the claim.:(

Sounds tempting to me and I am only 2/3 your age....but what to do with the kids?

We only have one daughter SB and at this moment she is at University and probably will 'fly the nest' and settle down somewhere who knows but we will always have a room for her should she decide to return home after Uni'.

    .

Just having a follow up on my last post re our interest in purchasing a property in Warminster and your valued comment on its position re should an emergency ever arise which would be a big consideration for anyone passed seventy.

We both like Salisbury and will be looking into properties there or near to, my question to you Lir do you have any comments to share re the city please?

Well, you cannot be too far away from it now in west Hampshire! I like Salisbury, personally. It's a bit closed off feeling. It has trains that run very late put from London (important for us and possibly helpful for SB in the future?)

Fwiw lots of older people DO live in Warminster, many retire from the army to towns round here and stay where they felt comfortable. It's just moving some where you have options that are not had by people who end up in an area by default or lack of......pull from their area.

Different hunt staff to my preference out hunting here locally. They aren't as good, this has resulted in crossing boundaries that are not meant to. Despite not being very active ATM I hobbled out on to the road waving my arms screeching like a mad woman, 'no faster than a trot past my VeRY OLD HORseS PLEASE' and ' does my neighbour know your hounds are in his farmyard (I know he'd flip)

Anyway, I looked like a barking mad woman, and will no doubt be the talk of the pub tonight, but .......they did slow to a trot.

Good for you, LIR, well done!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I can't see why they would not have paid the claim. Most fires are avoidable.

When you time yourself, without racing, it's amazing how it takes 40 minutes to boil 2 eggs/grate 2" of cheese, then make two pitta breads: egg/salad cream/tomato -and- cheese/tomato, wrap up one set in foil and put in the fridge, eat the other one, then do the small amount of washing up.

    40 minutes!
