Skiing was brilliant, apart from the flights, transfers and the nasty sciatica that developed on Thursday evening and ruined my last day and made the journey back particularly horrendous. I got a lot better during the week and am now almost competent. My ability to go out drinking afterwards has, however, suffered an inverse variance...

Val D'Isere - we generally go to big resorts as my friends like to cover a lot of mileage.

Certainly in the drinking dept. My legs coped with it fine, but that's the third time in 6 months that my back has gone. I probably need to start doing pilates or something.

Very nice. I stayed in Tignes, which is next door. Almost exactly 40 years ago! :)

not sure it has bearing on age of parents, mine I think we're probaly the oldest parents to age of new born on the thread.

I am also familiar with the look. I think we all do it sometimes. Exchanging looks and reserving criticism just for a mother, who my feeling is has been a good and commited and loving mother and that sort of combine forces against.....no, I think that's a step beyond ' the look'.

Sorry silvercar, I don't mean to be rude about your family, and I do apologise sincerely. But it's made me a little cross because I don't want you to have that experience from sons who are I am sure in other respects lovely chaps.

Imagine if they treated their wives/girlfriends so.

Now I feel I have to illustrate how lovely by boys really are. And they are really thoughtful and sweet most of the time, but I sometimes need to let off steam on here, so you may not get a representative view.

Although we have different views, DS1 and my mind work in the same way, which is such an advantage and natural bond, so don't think they continually gang up on me.

I have just finished my tax return. I started it in December. Why is it that they change it every year, so you get to a bit where you think you've finished and then they throw you a curved ball? I had to declare an income of £1 from a source that doesn't pay me and then tell them I don't get any income from it in the notes because it doesn't accept 0 in the box and that I don't earn anything... GRRRRRR

Snap! Then I realised some fields will accept blanks but not zeros.
