I'll eat horse. My problem is not the animal but the welfare. The ethical position otherwise really is vegan ism IMO ( dairy industry also results in slaughter )

Oh dear - I have had horse meat in Switzerland and France and enjoyed it. I'm not sure it makes sense to eat some animals but be squeamish about others? Obviously Trel's position is more principled.

And I hope I am not scaring you off again Trel, it is nice to have you back even if you haven't enquired whether I look like Kelis...

Well I do sometimes have the discussion about why people are happy to eat cow, pig, etc. but the idea of eating a dog or a sweet little guinea pig, for example, is abhorrent to most. I just prefer not to eat any of them.

And, um, I don't know Kelis but I do know that you are a MAN michaels. :p

Yes, I know you're right. I'm not as principled as maybe I should be. For example, I will buy leather shoes and have a leather suite so I do use by-products.

OH going to Edinburgh for the day tomorrow.
I thought of going with, but:
    a) he is leaving at 5am
    b) he has no free time
    c) its cold.
I was there a couple of weeks ago. I think he'll be able to tell us what cold is

Was just watching the news while eating dinner. Several supermarkets have been selling 'beef' burgers that have been found to contain horsemeat. Makes me glad not to be a meat eater.

I was in France and ordered a set meal which had hamburgers "a cheval"which should have rung a bell. Thought it tasted a bit sweet, but the penny dropped soon enough. Not too bad. Would have it again. Unlike black pudding which I used to love but couldn't eat now I know what it is. Any other NPs fond of it?

Harry and Paul's quite watchable right now!

Oh no, it was not a comment on vegetarian ethics as certainly not a personal one. it's also better, IMO, for the carnivorous amoung us to eat less meat and animal products.

It's a nice flight in to Edinburgh. It does always seem to be colder on that side of the country though. It's nicer in the summer in my opinion.

Nice to see you tre. your personality is missed :)

Another "pixel" pint for lydia  Not trying to get you gassed or nothing :D

I don't know how to do multiple quotes so responses:

LiR - jabs going OK - still my own little nightly drama. Dosage doubled last week and I am reprising the side effects which I could do without. Had a hypo at work today which I realised as the nausea (side effect) was suddenly accompanied by blurred vision and a difficulty in thinking straight/confused speech. The chap I was meeting with realised all was not well and nipped out and got his diabetic colleague (another of my team) to come and take charge. Guided me to take the 'emergency' dextrose (lemon flavoured chalk for the unfamiliar) then I had lunch. Timing is everything I am learning. Oh look away now if you are shy or easily embarressed - marital relations are now classified under the 'unexpected exercise heading' and need a bit of planning and a biscuit:eek:

Lydia - I have not tried putting a new needle in as I leave it 'unarmed' when I am not injecting. Honestly I treat it like a primed bomb, and I am also concerned about needlestick injuries to the unsuspecting (not that there are any unsuspecting, just something else for me to fret about).

Complete hypocrite here. Horses (and bunnies) definitely not on the menu. Right up there with the idea of eating dog I am afraid.

I do however love black pudding - warm black pudding salad is delicious. The french for black ooudding is 'boudin'. If we get another flat coat retriever puppy at some time, 'Boudin' is on the list of possible names.

Are we alone amongst NP in having possible names for pets we have'nt got?

Click the Orange button next to the quote button on the posts you want to quote. On the last post you want to quote, click the normal quote button.

I think there is a limit to how many posts you can "multi quote" in one reply.

Ahh.... calling a puppy black pudding :D

Btw, I wouldn't ever have been able to stomach the stuff. My dad used to cook himself tripe. Needless to say no-one else ever ate it.
