When I go to Ireland or meet my Irish cousins we fall into a familiarity that our tenuous contact does not warrant, but our shared history does.
Two of my great nephews (little chaps aged 3 and 4) are without their fathers. The dads died when one was 4 months old and the other little one was not yet born. An Uncle gave up his job and relocated with his wife-to-be to make their home near where he could play a part in both of their lives. This was not a man I had previously admired, however I am humbled by his priorities and action.
Both widows also have brothers willing and able to play a day to day part in the boys lives.
So am I. :ADo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I have redecorated my sitting room and am about to buy my fourth canvas from John Lewis for above my fire place.

I'm just going to say one word, "brave". I don't dislike it, but I'm not sure I could have it above my fireplace all day everyday.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I like abstracts. I am consistently getting the sizes wrong
100 square too big, it is now in the hall
80 x 100 totally wrong shape, now in bedroom
60 x60 , loved this one abstract city landscape. Too small, now on other wall
80 x80 good size, greek mythology thingy. Hated it, now in spare room
Wow I am actually on5
Loved this one, now on other wall

We had a few people round last night for a gathering delayed from when we both got the lurgy in Xmas week. The 3 litre bottle of wine that has been sitting (technically lying) waiting to be drunk was opened and finished in record time. A lot of new years resolution's broken.
There then followed a debate on whether we should keep the bottle and its wooden box as it seemed a shame to throw it out. Hmm, enough clutter here. Its in the recycling, collection on wednesday, so hope OH hasn't noticed its gone til then.

I could never have something like that up in my house, it hurts my brain. I'd stick up a nice landscape or something and be boring.0 -

I had the flu in December a couple of weeks before xmas but the boss and his wife had it xmas day and shortly thereafter during the week of leave they had booked...not sure this will have improved my prospects for an annual rise at the end of Jan...I think....0 -
