Mainly for gdb, Something to cheer. We have snowdrops, but not daffs yet, but saw this game little primrose earlier and thought to tell gdb someone else is ready for spring

I can't remember the last time I did 12 days 'dry'.
Another new job?! Anything exciting?
I can!
Not had a drink since approx 12.30am on the 1st Jan and probably won't have another one now until the end of July.
You can count the units of alcohol I have a year using your fingers...not for any virtuous reasons though, I just never know when I will have to use my car for the boys (medical reasons), so I am too scared to drink just in case!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Just watched a really interesting and far reaching interview with Colin Powell. He was fantastic and really on the ball. The Republicans must be so fed up.that he cant stand for President as he was born abroad, Jamaica I think. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Once again, my shredder has broken! Can anyone suggest one that is reasonably bullet-proof, please? It's a real shame that the main shredding mechanism survives, but the plasticky bits don't. Presumably, a really good one costs £100's?
(Although we keep it in the kitchen, I am talking about a paper shredder, btw.)
They need TLC which means not feeding more than the number of sheets stated as the max. We mainly use a scissors with 5 blades:

Oh no, not those!
They are torture IMO. But...our shredders survive quite well. Being out of town we tend to burn sensitive things.0 -
It's been beautiful weather today but cold. Forecast is different on every site but cold seems to be the theme so I have an indoor project. We have a cabinet fropm dh's family which no one else wanted and it's (IMO) not very nice so I am going to (gulp) paint it. I got dh to check with his siblings twice that no one minded. It's a bit fiddly, but after some guidance from the shabby chic thread on old style I am painting it aqua (!!) then grey (phew) and distressing. Its got some gold in it and it it Looks bland afterwards I might put some gold backl on the thing afterwards. Hope not though.0

I just put papers in the recycling bin. If it is sensitive and I think about it I may tear it into a few pieces.0 -

Most of the time I put papers in the kitchen soggy waste bin; if someone is so desperate as to wash the tomato soup, soggy teabags, yoghurt and other food droppings off the papers, then let them. This identity theft from private houses is far too alarmist IMHO.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I generally tear off the parts with name/ address/ account numbers etc and shred (if at parents') or rip into little bits. The remainder goes into the recycling.0

Been to Milton Keynes this afternoon to use up some vouchers.
Considering it is a couple of weeks after Christmas, I was amazed at just how much sale stuff was still in the shops. I guess a lot of them have pulled out whatever has been lurking in the stockroom for the past x years, but still. I also doubt that most shops intended to have such a surplus so I would guess it is because people haven't bought nearly as much as was anticipated.
I also used up the £5 HMV voucher that I got via o2 - had a feeling that it wouldn't be worth a lot in a few weeks time. I did contribute a fair amount extra to their whip around for their [STRIKE]upcoming loan repayment[/STRIKE] blue cross sale though.0
