Well, the maths teacher has become a lot more sensitive since his meltdown in the class but on the whole, no, nothing has been sorted. The head now scuttles away from eldest (who is not backwards in coming forward when it comes to the care issues), as he is eek about being taken to task again about the failings in the support given to youngest....at least James has been able to talk to the executive head which is one better than me, I just get palmed off with phone calls from the under head in response to my request for meetings, or letters.
It's going well with loverrr, saw him Christmas day and New years Eve. We are having great fun discovering all the tea houses in the general area and castles a little further out (when boys allow)..it is so nice to find someone who has the same interest in history and historial architecture as me.
We go out maybe once a week during the day, although sometimes that is only for a very short time due to the demands on my time and his shift pattern. We can't do quiet nights in, in front of the telly either as the two younger boys can't handle other people being in the house (not even my parents!), which is a bit of a pain but with how youngest is right now, now is not the time to be tackling this issue...the house is his safe haven where he can finally relax.
:mad::mad::mad: about school.about loverrrr. Sounds lovely. I have a history (a loooong time ago) of making bad decisions about men by rushing things - getting engaged to LNE far too quickly was the biggest of those. So taking things gradually is all for the best. Especially as you are (like me) beyond wanting more kids and having to worry about a biological clock. Here's hoping that one day you arrive at a point of being able to have quiet nights in together.
Oh, and, as always, you're amazing for the way you do what your boys need, even when that requires big sacrifices. :Alostinrates wrote: »Accountant wants me to resist the stuff we had before the business started. Grrrr. I had this all in with them AGEs ago and was feeling smug I was ahead of the game with my tax return.
I hate tax return and I do not love my accountants. I want someone who comes to the house I think. Too lazy?
Not too lazy at all.
1) You have big responsibilities at home with all your animals.
2) You hate tax returns.
3) Your health is being eek at the moment.
4) You have a million and one other things going on (building etc).
Get an accountant that comes to the house. Nobody else but you can look after your health or do various other things. Somebody else can make your hated tax return easier. Do it.PasturesNew wrote: »Life's ... getting there. Sofa + broadband = happy as a pig in 5h1t time
Lovely to have you back, PN.
How old is your laptop battery? They don't last forever, and eventually they do get to the point of not holding their charge any more, and then need replacing (expensively, but not as bad as replacing the laptop). If it's a battery problem, I would expect it to say it's charging, and then that it's fully charged, but run out again quickly. If it's a charger problem, I would expect it to say it's plugged in but not charging, or similar. At least, that's been my experience with my Dell laptop - have had it years now, and replaced the battery once and the charger several times.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Can you run it with the charger plugged in?0

This is one of the expensive annoyances in life.... a wealthy person would just swap them all out .... I've now got to guess which it is, with the potential that the first item I choose isn't the culprit and I've spent money I didn't need to. Currently budgetting £100/month to get everything I 'need', which I've already spent this month... and I've still got to find a fridge/freezer and have shelved the idea of getting a bed for 1-2 years. I'd pencilled in a new PC to my "Buy List" because this PC's on its last legs really - 40GB HD, it was the cheapest PC available to buy when I bought it 7 years ago for £200, so didn't even start off life as a high-spec item

Can you take the laptop to a computer shop and get them to decide which it is? That way if they balls it up you can take it back and make them refund you.0 -
See what it says tomorrow. Sometimes they're just a bit temperamental and decide to go back to charging properly after a brief hissy fit. But if it persistently says "plugged in, not charging" then it's a problem I've had several times in the past, and it's always been fixed by replacing the charger - apart from one time when the centre plastic bit in the laptop charger socket, where the pin from the charger connects to, had got broken (which I could see by looking into it), and I had to take it to a repair place to get a new charger socket fitted. Dying batteries simply don't say "plugged in, not charging" IME; they charge, but then don't hold it, and they don't usually do that suddenly, because battery function degrades gradually. So my advice is don't waste money on a new battery.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? So, I set out to find your post again... and now I realise that's for the charger/lead. Isn't the charger/lead different to the battery? It's a battery I need.
Last year I though my laptop had had it, however in a fit of MSE activity Mr S bought a new battery online. It was then fine.
About a week later though the charger unit went, so that was replaced too.
Friend's husband has cleaned up my laptop whilst they were here at the weekend. It is now working so much more quickly and he has got rid of the horrible incredibar thing that had installed itself and nothing I did could shift it. I may get him to sort out my iPad which is neglected and forlorn on a shelf.0 -
Hello Generali
Have watched footage of the bushfires and thinking of you 'being prepared'.
From your posts you seem like the no heroics, people are more important than things sort, so will wish you well.
If the armageddon threads on old style had to prepare for what you face it could make interesting reading.0 -
Back to work
and general busy-ness. Will be reading but no chance of much posting for about 4 weeks

Oh yes. We went to pick up Mrs Generali from work today so we packed 4 litres of cold water in the car for a 20km round trip.
We have a bush fire plan for today which involves putting the kids and Mrs Generali in the car and driving them up to Sydney and staying in a hotel. When you remain in your house and save it from the flames it's called Stay and Defend. I think our fire plan is called Run Away Like Cowards. I can see why someone with a large farm would do Stay and Defend as if you don't you'll almost certainly lose everything and you have a decent chance of success.
There's no point in defending my landlord's house and we're insured with most of the contents being easily replaced. If the landlord is short of insurance then that's a problem but not for me.0
