The RFS leaflet is really scary. It's got me worried, all right, and it's going to rain this afternoon. :)

I think Piers has just nailed the gun debate in the US, just watch this clown that is behind the petition to deport him, as one wise old bird states ' I wouldn't trust him with the cutlery' :) Described as a Libertarian, 'hoisted by his own petard' methinks.

Not able to check the link but there is a danger of framing this from a UK cultural perspective. Judgements we make on US culture that seem obvious can often competely fail to traslate to US mainstream thinking.
    I think....

I think this performance is beyond that :)

My laptop the battery hasn't worked for years but I just use it with the lead as a new battery is silly money.

School is back today so DW got up at 5 - I now remember why I get so tired and run-down, it is losing the last 2 hours of sleep every night :(

Mine is like that, it conked after about a year, I think it was because I used it plugged in to often icon9.gifUsing it on the lead seems to make it overheat easily, is that the same with yours? I think I will have to buy a new one (battery or laptop).

Sometimes. I didn't notice it wasn't charging, walked away from the laptop for 5 minutes and when I got back it'd turned itself off. I turned it back on and could see the battery was "plugged in, not charging. 0%" and it was happy running for 10-15 minutes while I fired it up again and was faffing with the lead (changing socket, checking it was plugged in etc).

Why don't you remove the battery and then plug the laptop into the mains?

I suspect that the sort of people who support Alex whotsit think that he performed really well. Although his presentation was terrible, he had some points to make and they came across. The fact that he's a 9-11 conspiracy nutcase does not endear him to us, but it does endear him to other loonies, and they must have been cheering that he made all these points on mainstream TV.

True, but 106,000 on his petition out of a potential voting public in the US of 236 million gives us some hope that the inmates have not yet taken over the asylum. I suppose we should wait and see how many sign after his performance has registered with the general public.

i don't think he's really nailed anything, all he's done is put a lunatic on telly. finding the stupidest supporter of something you disagree with that you can and then making them look like a moron on tv just makes "good*" tv. it's a bit like louis theoroux interviewing nick griffin, showing griffin up to be the racist nutcase that everyone already knows he is, and then claiming that theroux nailed the debate on immigration.

I doubt he is the stupidest supporter but he is the guy that created the petition. I think showing the US people the type of people who have a legal (presumably) arsenal of 50 weapons must be quite a sobering thought for the vast majority of the US population and I am fairly sure we will be seeing some sort of legislation very soon.
