Answer is: as soon as you ask yourself the question ..... you're new, you've not done it before, you don't really know where you're going .... use the Wimp Out Method of deciding.

If you're thinking about it: GET OUT.

    :)

    Anybody been to uni/college
    No :)

Advise them to get a part-time job in a food place. You get wages, plus tips potential, plus free food potential. Less time spent shopping/cooking/eating poorly = more study time and a more carefree life.

Look at me on the Internet ... proper :)

Great to have you back properly PN, especailly as I am feeling guilty over a not found usb cable.

Before it goes to your head too much and you buy everything you need sign up for your local freecycle and sofas etc (if you can transport them) will appear miraculously for free.
    I think....

My very own posh alert...not that many will understand it.

    A DW 9000 double pedal!

Middle son put a deposit down on one today and will be paying it off with his pocket money over the next twelve weeks (with a little help from his mum)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

There's not much on freecycle, I've just had a look.... not much of anything at all. I looked in 3 areas, up to a 20 mile radius. Nothing really. I think freecycle works best for people in/near big cities, with all day to keep looking, who can transport what they need.

My car's not big enough for a sofa, I'd have had to have found/paid a little man with a van to do a pickup/delivery. I figured with the time delay and faff and additional cost, not to mention the fuel cost of going to look at 2-3 ... what I did today was the best option. £60's not too shabby, I was looking at £120-40 for something new, and a wait/probably not be able to get it delivered on a Saturday.

You have to have loads of free time at home in weekdays to receive most deliveries.... and many only deliver to the door. One sofa option I spotted (ebay) only deliver Tue-Fri and only to the front door. A local second hand electricals place only deliver on Mon-Thu. It's almost impossible for a full-time, working, single person to get stuff really. Annoying, but that's the way it's always been.

Stuff's coming together now. PC/laptop/Internet. Sofa. Washing machine. Microwave, kettle, toaster. There was already a cooker and I've borrowed a TV and fridge. That's all the basics. So far all within a reasonable spend limit. The rest I will stumble across over the coming months. I'll be using the new sofa to sleep on (it's not a sofabed, but you've seen me and know I am dinky, so sleeping on a sofa's perfectly comfortable for me).

I just need a few more paydays to be tucked under my belt now, then get my online incomes back up to scratch and on track .... then it'll be summer.

Next big spend: That smartphone thingy ... I was all on track to get that when I moved, only without the Internet I couldn't track one down nor choose a provider.... so I think getting that phone's got to happen this week ideally. Huawei G300 (from memory)....

    POSH ALERT!!

No idea what it is though ....

    Just googled it ... £500 or so!!! !!!!!!? That's like ... a fortune.

When I was about 14-16 my pocket money was enough to buy one cheap pair of tights from the market..... or the bus fare to get to town ... or a box of maltesers. I remember the box of maltesers as one easter that's what I got.

It's a double bass pedal so he can do the really fast bass beats. It's £500+ brand new but this is second hand at a more palatable £200 (still eekk though!)

It was really a must get, you can't get anywhere near that price on Ebay secondhand and with the added chance of paying it off in bits (with no interest), we had to grab it, especially as we have been after one for absolutely ages.

I can't imagine being coordinated enough to use one of those. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
