LIr - if you don't mind me saying so this is bonkers.
Why should you look when they empty the septic tank!!!! I am never tempted by our cesspit. It gets emptied, to put it politely, it smells which I try to avoid by closing windows, staying in/being out. The tanker takes it away and I pay them £180.
If Mr S rods drains it is up to him but there is no need for me to go anywhere near it.
If I pay a plumber to fix stuff then I am paying someone who has chosen to earn their living from working with other peoples drainage and loos . I give them money, they use their skills and experience and I keep out of their way.
This is normal in my experience:A
Hmm - I am with LIR on this one - in my house I like to know where things are and how they work. Also I don't like to think I would pay someone to do a job that I would I wouldn't be willing to do myself.I think....0 -
Our 'chief usher' is on CBBC right now. He's the new headmaster in the 4 o'clock club. My kids are very excited as they watch the show. We have coke and eclairs for the screeningEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

For lir's info...
I decided to get a Wi-Fi repeater as my DD was losing signal in here bedroom which is furthest from the router.
It arrived today and works well. You just plug it in a mains socket in your low signal area and pair your wireless devices to it. The signal was around 50% strength in her bedroom and is now 100%
This is the one I went with after reading reviews...
Wi-Fi Repeater
I notice on the reviews where someone has a 3 story old house and he uses 2 of them (daisy chain) to cover the whole house.
I just followed the simple instructions of the most helpful review.
HTH
That looked amazing, until this:WPS is supported by most recent Wifi routers (e.g. BT Home Hub), if WPS is not available then a web-based setup administration console will guide the user through steps required to configure the device.
How do I know if it is configurable?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I disagree. The whole point of paying someone is that they choose to earn their living that way.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. That's great! Thanks, arrived safely in my inbox.
One question, does it have to be on the same circuit as in the same fuse box switchy bit? Or just plugged in in the same house. Does that make sense to any one but me? It's lir does something of which she has no knowledge etc etc .....:rotfl:0 -
This quiz will identify any narcissictic NP

I scored 10
I scored 6. Apparently I think I'm wonderful, and quite like getting attention, but don't manipulate people or think I don't need them or have any of the other elements of narcissism.lostinrates wrote: »Urge, I fell again. Not in muck, but while helping the plumber who was roddding our pipes. The mere association is enough to be disagreeable. He offered to help me up, but I declined. I have sprained my left hand and it's bruising, and my feet are swelling in protest at the jolt, and my left hip is feeling tender. On the plus pretty sure my back, which was several types of hell yesterday, feels better for the bump..
Oh no. Please look after yourself.lostinrates wrote: »Yes, never bring them to gatherings of people you met on the Internet with out sissinghurst out the people first
I was really worried when i first met Lydia because I was worried she might feel vulnerable because of her kids, or that we might all be setting her kids a bad example and that she was very trusting ....
I wasn't in the least worried for me/us though. Just her. She pointed out if I was worried I I knew I don't bite then it was probably ok. (I don't bite children anyway) and it was. They survived! Hurrah!
I didn't meet you IRL until I'd known you for literally years on here. And I did all the recommended things - told somebody where I was going, phoned my friend just before we went into your house and told her to start the panic if I didn't call back within half an hour to confirm we were still safe, etc. And I didn't tell them my kids that I only knew you off here. I just said "They moved a couple of years ago and I've never been to their new place" to explain why I didn't know the route. I have told them since, and had a discussion about how you can try to work out whether it's safe to meet somebody. They understand that it's definitely NOT something kids should ever do without an adult.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Chilling. My DKs are just starting to get big enough that I need to serriously look in to safe browsing and activity logging.
Anyone any suggestions?
Educate them, trust them and keep the computer in a communal room. Occasionally check their history. The idea of spying on them behind their back doesn't sit right with me.lostinrates wrote: »Yes, never bring them to gatherings of people you met on the Internet with out sissinghurst out the people first

I thought it would not set the right example to my kids to meet people I'd met on here, even though you all sound less mad than me.:)
My kids are probably more savvy than me. When DS2's teacher was acting strange through facebook, I said it was probably someone impersonating him. It was DS2 who said (at the age of 10) that it was the teacher and he was definitely acting odd. 3 years later he was in prison.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. With no knowledge, I would have thought if you have one electric meter, then anything your side of the meter is connected in some way.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
