I have completely beggered my back...

Was helping mum and dad get the boxing day buffet out this evening and somehow, have trapped a nerve. Normally I can clear it pretty quickly (but not painlessly) but this time, no joy, so now I am down to a painful old person shuffle when trying to walk anywhere.

My normal painkillers not even touching the pain...so now having to suffer until I manage to untrap the nerve.

Hope you feel better soon Sue. What painkillers have you tried?

Oh and another thing.. We ordered some tickets for something special. They've been delivered to the wrong address. In Canada.

Nice. How are you going to fix the problem?

I'm going to pop into work tomorrow for a few hours and sort some stuff out. and then I have to write 3 lectures in a week

The ball is in their court. They provided a tracking number to show it had been sent and was our fault for not collecting. We tracked it, but to Ontario. The ball is back in their court to see how they are going to put right. Fortunately they are the company in question, not an agent thereof, so should be able to print new. It's whether someone else turns up and tries to use.

I'm due to work Thurs, Fri and Sat, all back to long normal hours (sad face).

I take a normal nightly dose of amitriptylene for long lasting pain relief with top up pain relief via Naproxen.

So, I have taken my naproxen. I can't top that up with paracetemol as I am allergic to it, nor Ibuprofen as Naproxen is from the same family of drugs (NSAID)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Sue, I am learning to live without paracetamol based pain killers as now they are contraindicated for me .Two of those used to keep me going quite nicely in recent times during the day. It's a sod, pain.

On a totally unrelated subject, I have been trying to reply to festive emails with dh and we are losing our will to live as each senders signiture from their gadget of choice pushes their new publication, or business venture. Is it just us who find this tacky and devoid of all social grace?

'Tis the very thing for pain. Used to get toothache as a kid and it stopped it dead. Not much else will touch it.

BTW,anyone who hasn't had toothache will be thinkiing why is anyone whingeing that it needs strong painkillers. :D

Trust me, those who know exactly what I'm talking about have my profound sympathy.

Not if I want to stay upright :rotfl:

Codeine makes me so dizzy and icky feeling that I can't even lift my head up from a pillow. I was originally given codeine but had to be taken off it because of the side effects.

My doctor calls me a nightmare, first the allergy to anything with paracetemol in it which makes things awkward, coupled with my refusal to take anything that has an impact on my ability to drive, makes it almost impossible to control pain.

As it is, I use the Naproxen sparingly as it gives me palpitations and increases my blood pressure with very regular use. I am supposed to take it 3 times a day, I tend to take it only when it gets to the point of not being able to move instead.

And you have my profound sympathy too.

Codeine (in prescription only strength) is the only thing that touches the pain I get when my neck problem flares up - magic stuff. I've only ever been prescribed it in combination with paracetamol, but I'm sure it must be available on its own.

Edit: Sue, I'm sorry codeine's no good for you. Hope they find you something that can help, and that your nerve gets untrapped very soon. :)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
