I don't bother getting involved in the debate about what's a cold and what's flu. I refer to them all as "that virus that's been going round" and I go into work or take time off according to how ill I feel (and whether I can make any audible talking sounds) rather than what label I think the illness should have.
Earlier this term there was a very strange virus going round my workplace. You felt as though you'd been run over by a train and couldn't do anything but sleep for nearly a week, and you ached all over, just as if you had a raging fever, but your temperature actually stayed normal. Very odd. Never experienced anything quite like it before, and no idea what its name was, but it had lots of staff and kids off school for several days each (including me).
Think it has hit here then as that is how I have been feeling for the last day or so, I was so without energy last night, I couldn't even sit up without support in bed last night and my joints are horrendous.
Either that or I have been trying to do too much and my body has gone on strike! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I need to sit down with parents to find out the type of dog that they want. Most of the ones that they've had have been border collie crosses, but they are very demanding and I think a bit hard going given Mum is disabled. They've also had a lurcher in the past, who was divine and definitely mum's favourite. That placid hound personality - sort of like a loving hippy - but then they go off like a rocket if they see anything interesting. Given that they're both in their 70s I think tearing around after that would be pretty hard too. I've seen a golden retriever and I think that might be a better fit. They've had one of them before too.
Main challenge will be to stop them getting two. They've had two dogs for years, but I think that's too much for them now. They've also had a dalmatian and two dobermans. They like medium sized dogs with character and intelligence who are good around kids. So any ideas greatfully received. Both are adamant that they don't want a "little yappy dog" (cover your ears wheezywesty).
Lurcher sounds ideal. Or, would they consider greyhound rescue,
Fwiw black greyhounds are the least likely to be rehired, males especially.
But, I am with your mother. You cannot better a girl IMO, and while I love the kiwi, ( who is as near to a sight hound as a terrier gets) I am a sighthound and long dog gal through and through.
Dog dog has been nick named the Swiss army knife dog by the referral vet, because thought you don't get purer sighthound, she is devastatingly bright and turns a paw to anything...she acts as a pointer, a collie ( the chicken hound) and she is awesomely bright. I was astounded when I realised she was checking out my indicators then looking to see what was down the road we were waiting to turn into, but she does it often.
The ther thing I agree with is size. Bigger dogs like lurches or small greys (remember dog dog is freakishly huge) are actually easier for many because there is no bending down to stoke or pick them up or anything.
Plus, a greyhound coat is easy to keep clean and no big muddy foot prints...as no hairy feet. Lurches with a proper double coat will shed less than many dogs Between grooming if groom correctly.0 -

I have that too.

Speaking of dogs, all thress dogs are about to come in the car with me because dog dog needs to go back to the vet. I was putting some elastoplast over the bottom of her splint to reinforce it and noticed a bad smell, Whoch is bad news.
. I am hoping it's not rotting under there.

Well it is definitely not flu cos I could go in to work if it were absolutely vital but I have decided not to today because (1) my cough and cold are much 'more porductive' and I wouldn't want to sit next to someone who seemed that ill, and (2) DW is pretty sick today whereas 3 DKs are all well and I think it would be a pretty big challenge for her to cope with them on her own all day. If you think it sounds like skiving please don't tell my boss.I think....0

Unfortunately work xmas do is on the afternoon DD1 is staring as Baboushka in the school nativity which has to come first. In fact it will need a total of 3 half days off work for the three separate nativities.
Luckily this is the paid for do for the place I am working for, my employers do which is free for self and DW should be OK.I think....0 -
Been snowing heavily here for the last 40 mins or so (could be longer but it took me that long to realise that something different was happening outside). If this keeps up, the school run this afternoon could be interesting! We made it! It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I am looking for some special glasses that are able to read text and immediately go black if they spot key words, such as Kate or baby.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

The snow stopped and then it rained heavily......so shouldn't be any problems for the school run.
