I got the job! It's a 6 month contract becoming permanent after that if we like each other at the end.
It's a 25% pay rise plus also I get full time benefits like paid holiday and sick pay.
Well done me!!!
Well done, gen!!!
And the summer's starting there.
Does Oz have a lottery, and if so, did you buy a ticket?

Well done and it just shows how long one week is :beer:0 -
It's snowing heavily in SW London/Surrey borders.
Will work be open or closed? Now to find out.
The answer for me was that work was open but SW trains were firmly closed for business. The service was utterly appalling - no trains stopping at Richmond at all for some reason - just running straight through. I had to get the district line.
Still no visa, but I did find out that I can ring up to 6 hours before my flight and reschedule it infinite times without having to pay more than the incremental cost if the new flight is more expensive. That's good news at least as it looks like the most this will cost me is a couple of hundred quid.
I emailed to chase the visa but the automated response said they would aim to read my email in the next 5 working days.0 -
The final part of supersized earth was on TV tonight.

Go Generali!
:beer:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
People with flu and norovirus should not be at the GP surgery. LIR why are you dodging the GP ?
Tonight, in an envelope I have a needle contraption as I was told yesterday that I am on a persistent upward trajectory for type 2 and must move to injectables.
Only snag is I am lifelong needle phobic. Don't even have my ears pierced. So needle is a demo one which I have to 'make friends with it'.
It will be doing well if I let it out of the envelope:(.
My dad was diagnosed in the 80's, & was straight onto needles. He too is fairly needle-phobic.
He's managed ever since, up to a serious illness a few years ago, following which despite going from2 to 4 injections a day he was unable to keep his levels consistent or safe, so he was fitted with a pump.
He tells me that at first, he shook like a leaf. What focussed him was the consequences of not doing it!
You'll manage Spirit. our mind always makes it worse than the reality...:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Thanks very much everyone.
It's not with the council I am happy to confirm, it's on the buy side (ie with an asset management company rather than a bank, banks are the sell side).
My wages will rise by 50% from my current job and as I'm going from temping to being on a fixed contract I get holiday pay, sick pay and also extra paid into my pension. They also do all that nice cuddly flexi-family huggz stuff too which is nice.
I'll miss my current lot but I'm used to moving on. I leave on good terms and will leave my replacement with an easier job than I arrived to find which is what I like to do.
Beers are definitely on me. I'll be in the Scary Canary on Kent St by Town Hall in a few minutes. Hope to see you all there.0 -
congratulations gen!
go you.

Congratulations Gen!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
