Can I pick someone brains about the bt thingy? I have a bt line which I very rarely use but the bills seem to be horrendous. Always way over a hundred quid. I am ashamed to admit I have no idea why they are so high, I have given up trying to work it out.
We use sky for broadband, the brat does WoW and we have Netflix ( set up to think we live in Ohio) so a super fast connection with no traffic shaping is really important. Cost isn't a huge factor tbh.
However I really do feel ripped of a la btRetail is the only therapy that works0 -
Now I know the model, I found this by michaels:
"I've heard good things about that phone. Apparently it is about 73 quid delivered from Very.co.uk with a new customer code and can be unlocked for £5 via ebay." https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/54015773#Comment_54015773
and this:
"This was definitely the best sub £100 phone available until recently, there may be some better now but you wouldn't go wrong with this one. Probably worth googling for any comments on the camera as MP is often a poor guide to how good the photos are. One phone which seems to be available now for around 120-150 is the Nokia 800 which I suspect will be better built than most in the price range. There are obviously lots of good deals on payg sims - the one zagubov mentions and giff-gaff get a lot of mentions but local network conditions may be a factor. 3 give probably the best unlimited data but try and stop you 'tethering' - ie using the data on a laptop or via a dongle.
There are cheaper ways to get a phone / minutes /; data if you are willing / able to go down a contract route but I'm not sure if this is for you. (My new phone is a Sony xperia s, 12mp camera, 1280x720 res screen etc - I have had to sign up for a contract I won't actually use (100 reducing to 50 mins, a few hundred texts, no data) but the total cost after cashback, redemption, refer a friend etc should be £83 for a phone that costs at least £300 to buy off contract. My next contract is likely to be a sim only o2 redemption deal with 600 mins unlimited texts and 500mb data which will cost £25 for a year)"

Genius.
Cheers guys
Of course, it'll still go whoosh... and I'll get a bit confused.... but I have the information/link/model to hand now0 -
Think this is probably the best current price...
Huawei G300
Edit: I've not looked through all the attached thread but did notice this near the end...For anyone still looking for a good deal on the g300, sign up for a Very.co.uk account. Once ordered and at the checkout enter 29U99 to get 10% off for first order and then 2AVKQ for £30 off (gets credited to card after payment) resulting in total cost of £59.10. Next day delivery of £3.95 is presumed, you'll need to remove this when you first get to checkout & before applying codes.Re previous post. You can only use one promo code, still £69 is a very good price0 -
I managed to have 8 windows of MSE open for all that....0
-
So - how does this whole "buy a phone" malarky work.... if I decided to go to Asda and buy that .... how do I get it connected etc etc?
And, of course, who/what's best?
And .. er... the other questions somebody who has had a phone would be asking right now that are important.
I should add, I guess: My current old mobile is on three through Utility Warehouse, I pay a line fee and 8p/text/minute of calls. I have a three dongle (15GB/month) which I was planning on cancelling (or would I keep that and use it on the phone, er ... or what?)0 -

You can get BT line rental for £129PA (=£10.75pm) including free evening (7pm-7am) and weekend calls. Obviously mobile and premium rate calls aren't free.
You pay the price of the bottom offer but get the second bottom offer on the link below.

Ideal if you don't make many calls or they have other options to cover all calls.0 -
Ok, talk me through this, I can phone up bt and say here is 129 quid go away and don't bother me for a year?
And as long as I don't phone anyone's mobile from my landline, I am home free ( pardon the pun)Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
Even cheaper in Tesco but stock is scarce...

Yes, but you will be charged for calls during the day time (7am-7pm)
If you don't make many "day time" calls then it wont add much to your bill at all.
Just wondering why your bill is so high at the moment if you don't make many calls. Might be worth checking the bill to see why.0 -

It also says deal running until 30 September... so I'm guessing ... it's gone.
It says "... head on over to your local Tesco phone shop..." I didn't even know there WAS such a thing.... is that an actual shop, or do they mean a disinterested and surly young person standing beside a lightweight booth somewhere instore?0
