Am I the only one that is nervous of changing their broadband supplier for fear of being without broadband between suppliers or that the new service is not as good as the current one, plus the inconvenience of changing emails (and knowing I will forget to notify people?

If I'd started a pension 20 years ago - and paid in 10% of my income each month - and that money had compounded at 5% .... I'd still not have £53k in there :)

I've never used an ISP for emails. First I had hotmail, then I owned domains and then I started using gmail about 6 years ago in my effort to get "everything online and unlikely to disappear" -v- having Outlook on a PC that might break, or using an ISP's email and dropping off somebody's list if they went to the wall or I changed ISP.

You can get BT line rental for £129 PA paying upfront (=10.75pm) including free evening and weekend calls (7pm-7am)

Seems you get the second bottom package for the bottom package price in the link below.

    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com

Plusnet do a BB package for £6.49pm if you aren't a heavy user.

They may be able to offer you a better deal for both land line and BB if you talk to them.

I like Plusnet as they answer pretty quickly and you can understand them and they always seem to be able to deal with problems rather than just fob you off.

Cut that £82 to £17.24 + a couple of quid for calls, as easy as that :)

Yep we have a landline from BT and pay upfront.
We get broadband from BT that is currently being offered at £18/month (the 40GB a month package) but we only pay £10. That includes some free weekend and evening calls.
Threatened to leave a couple of years ago and have just started paying £10 for the third year in a row. That's cheap enough to stop me from looking for better.
Anyone with BT should ask for cheaper next time their renewal comes up!

No but the difference was getting too much for me to stomach. I spoke to BT and saved a fair bit by threatening to walk away. Try it. Nothing to lose!

We moved into an area that had cable and got internet eventually through the cable company. The email address was changed three times as they rebranded themselves during various takeovers and eventually I just gave up. It felt like the London telephone renumbering debacle.

Webmail's the only answer I reckon. Kinda hacked off though that gmail's loaded all my contacts onto my mobilpe though, as that includes hundreds of people I don't know and don't need to contact. I always loathed hotmail but it seems to be improving. Maybe that's a better one now. Anybody found a free webmail better than these?

    Go to settings, Accounts, Corporate.

Click on your gmail addy and switch contacts off.

They should be gone from your mobile contacts list now :)
