can you imagine getting on a london commuter train in the morning and saying to someone "errr, sorry, you're sitting in my seat". all you'd be paying extra for is the privilege of being told to shove your seat reservation up your rear end each and every morning!

i get on at the last station where you are guaranteed a seat (except on the 7.51 for some reason). at the next station there is always a horrendous mad dash for the last couple of seats, which i always enjoy very much.

i enjoy getting to putney even more - where half the contents of the platform can't get on the train.
Used to live in Vauxhall. Great undergroound line and fine for trains to all of Surrey and points south and west. Well dodgy for trains to waterloo. There'd be some space as there would always be people getting off there to get the Vicky line.

But there would only be a handful and you'd be standing room only and squeezed in like sardines and have to take turns breathing.

Edit; Well, that's Obama got in and I can breathe a sigh of relief!

I am imagining a train where all of the passengers are polite queue abiding types and the guard ensures compliance if necessary.

Off topic and a bit of a whinge - posted this on another thread - see, I am very whiney (andexhausted).
Tonight on my journey back from London I paid to upgrade my ticket and got the last seat in 1st Class. It was £20+ but a whole lot better than standing for over an hour after a very long day.

My day return ticket had already cost over £75 and I had had to stand for part of the journey in the morning.

I would be happy to pay a few £ extra to prebook a seat rather than the random scrum when an already full train pulls in and you have to board. I am not convinced that first come first served is a reasonable principle when customers at 'later' stations will always have an unmet demand for seats.

When we go to Norwich, we can book seats (for free) on the Ipswich to Norwich part (and of course, the Norwich to Ipswich bit) but not on the train from here to Ipswich...not that you need to book one for that bit, that train rarely gets overcrowded.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

what would you do when set with a stupidly impossible task at work when you're triple busy?

i'm tempted to kill myself and do it (because I hate looking stupid and I hate being unprepared) but I'm tempted not to do it to make someone else look bad.

    it's now 75% kill myself :(

If you want something doing, give it to a busy person...

    Totally agree.

Sorry, I'm going to be controversial here.

I'd spend NOTHING on footballer grant McCann. I think he'd offer nothing to my football team...

Isn't there a law in this country making it illegal to drive a bicycle without lights nor reflectors?
Yesterday evening, on my way back from work....unlit country lane, pitch dark...I think I missed him by less than 2 feet

That was my rant for the day :)

I got hypnotised also, dozed off and woke up in the sofa around 2AM.
Declared results at that time was 160 for Obama, 170 for Romney or something like that, so I still knew nothing. :o
