One stands head and shoulders above the rest, shows knowledge of crime prevention ( having discussed this with people who know) and gives actual figures of aim and research. It's a no brainer. On the main party candidates look like puddings in comparison, with vague aims and wishes.
Easiest tick ever.
Easy choice here too. Three vague sounding career politicians, and one independent candidate, former police officer, standing with a strap line about believing policing shouldn't be party political. I have politician friends - the kind who stand for local government elections each time but are quite young and haven't yet risen to positions of sufficient importance in their party to be allowed to contest seats they've got any chance of winning - and even they have told me they'll be voting for the independent bloke.lostinrates wrote: »I think dog dog has damaged her splint.....there is a hard bump where none was before.tomorrow I have big dog going to a vet in the other direction to be neutered ( cannot be done in normal vets because of her size) so looks like I am going to be driving from vet to vet back to first vet to collect tomorrow.
Curly dog got his first jabs today and wept the whole time we waited in the waiting room. Whata wimp!
Poor dog dog. Hope the vet can sort her out. Hope the spaying doesn't hurt big dog too much too. And poor little curly dog - only recently taken away from his mum, just settling in with some lovely humans and other dogs, and starting to feel secure and safe again, and then suddenly taken to a strange place, separated from his people, and painfully jabbed with sharp needles by strangers for no reason that he can understand.I'd weep if I were him. I hope he's cheered up now.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Mmmm.... the political wing of the EDL. Now that really is a party we can't vote for...
Its possible it would be (even more of) a wasted vote anyway - he was arrested for something (not sure what, local paper a bit light on detail) shortly after putting up the money to stand for election, and if he did get in and was convicted of a crime, there would have to be another election (apparently).0 -

His name isn't Berlusconi by any chance?0 -

It's knocked dad for six to be honest, he really did seem so frail when we went down there this afternoon. He wants to go to the funeral because he feels as the eldest sibling, he should be there but mum thinks it will be too much for him as his health has not been the best just recently and as each week goes on, he just gets more confused and more frail.
It's not helped that my uncle lived in Surrey, so not an easy journey for either of my parents.
They were close but due to work and illnesses, had not seen each other as regularly as they would have liked but they kept in contact via the phone a fair bit.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Oh Lydia, the needle didn't bother him, he got attention from some one new then, it was the sitting in the waiting room, Rofl.
But he liked cuddling the receptionist, the vet nurse and the vet nurse assistant (who were amazed dog dog likes him) the bet nurse there is ace, and she really seems to care aout her patients as individuals, depsite being sole nurse in a very busy and very easy high street practice.0 -
If I didn't vote I think my grandad would come back and haunt me
Right from the word go he used to take me with him to vote and sit me on top of the box so I could post his vote whilst telling me that it was not my Constitutional Right to vote, it was my Constitutional Duty.
p.s. I love mushrooms
I went to an all girls secondary school, and it was mentioned more than once what women had gone through to get the vote so I do usually vote. Not this time thought - forgot to sort out postal vote for my last address and missed out on registering here. I can't say that any of the candidates here or there particularly appealed though. Here they are all political sorts (and one 'specialist' interest group as highlighted by viva), and there the one independent doesn't particularly stand out (though has been a magistrate, so would probably have got my vote).0 -

Ha! Not as far as I know. Would think it is something much more Anglo-Saxon
Though I seem to remember there are a lot of Italians round here. Last time I was here for a summer (who says science isn't glamorous?), Italy won the World Cup and there were car horns beeping for hours!0 -
...he really did seem so frail ...
When people get to frail, they're often unable to attend these "important" events, which are at short notice and miles awayBeing an observer of the effects of ageing is very distressing.
Beyond frail is 'lost some marbles'.... my mum's got to that stage. We were worried telling her of her brother's death might make her very upset, so we informed the care home of the news in case she started behaving out of sorts/tearful randomly, they needed to know why. Then - when told - she just said "well, he was quite old" and the subject was over. "he was quite old...." but not as old as mum. Thought she'd be upset a bit... but no. It didn't sink in or register ... it was as if we'd told her that some 1960s ex-TV presenter had died.0 -
Re registering to vote ... I've never un-registered to vote. How do you do that then? Is there such a thing? Are there ballot papers up and down the country where I've lived in the past....?0
