Not nice builders fault, he was trying to get heating people to start much sooner, but the heating peoe won't take the gamble he will be finished. I have noticed he works really well to deadlines, so I know if he says it's doable then it is doable.
I have to buy some floor paint when dh's pay cheque comes through, Grey or black? I thought black might, at a push, look sort of like slate? Otherwise grey,..for quietness.
I'd say grey, only because black shows dirt as badly as white does!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'm sure it was tongue in cheek.

Umm.....yes, that was definitely tongue in cheek, I meant scutter.Mr Spirit has been awating a quote for some dentistry. He has sent a text to me today to say he has the email and that he thinks he will have to sell a kidney. It is £8-10,000:eek:
My dad had his implants done in SA where apparently you get first world dentistry at third world prices.I think....0 -
Thank you to all the NPs for the London break suggestions.
It was a good, if tiring, visit.
London observations from a Northerner (probably a chimney sweep or window cleaner I hear you say) :-
- wow, i mean, wow, just where do all the people come from? The place is heaving with people.
- Tower of London - BIG TICK - the Yeoman talk was just class; he put context and humour to everything you saw.
- Natural History Museum : the place just oozes knowledge. It's what I imagine wikipedia would look like if you made it physical.
- London Euston : oh dear, it doesn't deal with problems and disruptions very well; confusion abounded.
- a different culture to the rest of UK? : Is it me or is every person who serves you in a bar or the hotel or fast food restaurant of non-UK origin? I'm not presenting this as a negative, I just get the feeling London as a working city would collapse without all these people performing all the crucial supporting roles. You just don't get an inkling of how this works out in the villages and towns of Cheshire, for example.
- err, did I mention the people? Too busy for me to live in. It feels much busier than the mid-late 90s.

Kudos to my fil who has been heading out in all the weather in new York and walking to see the new baby every day. Only, he is almost totally blind, and not very strong and in his seventies now. Plus......I think the parents were hoping the wizard of oz style weathe might give them a day alone...they have not had ONE without him 'popping in'. She must be an absolute saint. I would SO have had a tantrum and told him t go away.
Its all a bi odd, because, of course it's no secret I would love to have had a baby, but .... Hells teeth, at least I don't get the fil all the time.0 -

I know very few Londoners who work in the service industry there. If you go back away from the tourist areas and to non-chain pubs you'll find some, but even then they will often have staff from overseas.
When I first worked there, a group of us used to get the train up together. Even then, those who worked in retail earned the least, but there wasn't the gaping chasm between pay rates there and in offices that there is now. Mind you, nobody would be able to afford to work in London retail and live in Herts these days as just the cost of commuting would be too high. My first weekly season ticket was £14. You can't get a daily ticket for that now. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I think what I love about London is that with no sense of 'artificiality' you can have such cultural blur in such old world. Special places have had this at times.....0

Having found tiles for the bathroom, and the utility room, and felt very smug about feeling some control over the whole thing (although with some bills waiting till Thursday and payday)..the architect warned me he is sending me a bill.....which we can always pay in installments as , um....he knows it's......sizable. Ouch. He didn't tell me how much.
Interesting that as you say you're getting control that the nice builder was saying he feels rather unhappy to leave you still in a building site. He is feeling a bit flat that he's not walking away from a finished article and also protective of you both; worried that suppliers will take advantage of your trusting ways. If you want him to barter for things, he will happily do that for the simple price of seeing you happy. Not sure he can do that with the architects fees though!
Twozer dog has just gone ABSOLUTELY CRAZY at a cat food advert on the TV. There really is no doubt that he sees it!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Architects fees are still discount. Infact, w are paying for his juniors time and secretaries time, he is gratis...just....there has been a lot of time.
I be you will be gla to have him home more!
I want a greener eau de nil than f and b Teresa's green.....still pigment rich, same shade, just greener tone ( hesitating, I often get shade and tone confused)! Kep your eyes peeled doozer girl.0 -

Yes, Hertfordshire. My dentist specialises in implants. My husband has had one and it is very good. I need one but have chosen not to have it yet. I have too little bone and would need a bone graft as well and at the moment don't feel I need a tooth right at the back of my mouth that badly. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
