Veneer's are great. Far better than crowns.

Only thing is they buff off a top layer of the tooth, as silvercar pointed out before but the finish is excellent and you wouldn't know you had anything there.
I don't seem to have much luck with dentists and haven't got one at the moment.

Luckily there are far more available in my area now so it shouldn't be a problem.

It's Hungary where people go to get cheap first class treatment.

I loved the wikipedia analogy. Thank you many times.

There was a quote from Ken Livingstone when he was Mayor something along the lines of "I can't remember the last time I was served in a restaurant by a Londoner".

(said with a nasally twang and probably different words).

Yet ken oversaw a lot of the demise of London individuality. I will never forgive Spitalfields and a giraffe and a pat val.

What ever happened with his second china town idea?

Yes, Hertfordshire. My dentist specialises in implants. My husband has had one and it is very good. I need one but have chosen not to have it yet. I have too little bone and would need a bone graft as well and at the moment don't feel I need a tooth right at the back of my mouth that badly.

Can I come back and learn from your experience /compare costs with you when I eventually get to see his quote?

I heard south Africa too ( as above) and medical treatment.

That's the thing....damaging my tooth. The other option that made me queasy was he said someting that started... 'or, we can make your tooth into a peg '. Seriously, I am not dentist nervous, but damaging smething functional freaks me.

I really would want them whitened first :o so keep putting it back. If a veneer lasts ten years than I have got mre than half way through the time I would have had with first veneer. :D

Personally I would wait until the technology moves on to the point where you can get a veneer without the need to damage the outer layer of your tooth.

No worries. I will clear some space in my inbox if you want to PM me. DH's was very straightforward and he got a good rate as an existing patient, but I can certainly find out more. If you like, I can just pass on dentist's details too, so you can contact directly and have a word. They are very accommodating.

Left work at 5.45. Left the building at 6.45 having spent an hour stuck in the lift after a very sudden stop (life flashing before eyes moment) followed by 60 minutes waiting for engineer to open doors - luckily it was only a small step down not completely between floors. My fellow trappees were a very posh 6 weeks into to the job Cambridge Historian fast streamer (annoying posh knob) and a lady who probably was ok if she had not been desperate for a fag at the start and unable to stop talking by the end...

I would have freaked. Not at the step but being trapped in the lift.

It felt like it was running at full capacity. I doubt we have seen the end of London growth though. If I were an economic migrant, I'd flock to the place with the most job opportunities. In the UK that is definitely London.

yep, london is just going to keep growing. the roads have already been largely overwhelmed. the rail and tube network will be next. at the moment key crunch points get overwhelmed on a regular basis at a certain time. give it 5 years and it any slight problem around 8.30 will just cause a general collapse via the domino effect.

I have to say the fact that I knew we were at or close to the ground floor with only one more floor down was quite reassuring.
    I think....
