Off to Norwich today with the boys and by dint of being in a wheelchair, we have ended up being placed in first class by the guards....ooh yes, that appeals to my posh side.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I've just watched the beeb1 program on foodbanks in coventry, and people struggling.
It's a hard watch but a decent balance I thought. They did illustrate someone who was gaming the system.
Yes, watched that and was expecting really poor people who fell through the mazes of the benefits system coming along for a food parcel.
What I saw was a woman turning up in her Chrysler Voyager loading it up with foodbank parcels. The interior of her flat en her wardrobe didn't look too shabby either. Ah yes, by the end of the program she realised it wasn't probably possible to hold on to the flat. Smart.
I felt for the guy who was made redundant from his 'managerial position' and had to resort to the foodbank for his son's bday cake while his benefits were sorted. But on the other hand you wonder about the lack of saving habits and financial planning of these people, where a couple of weeks after redundancy, they have to resort to the foodbank??
Or the woman who was invited to speak at the christian event. When the foodbank guy picked her up at her place, he was jumped upon by a flock of dogs.
Not generalising here and there were genuinly needy people on the program, but several of them needed to get their priorities right.
Anyway, maybe this post doesn't belong in the NP thread...0 -
NPs who urged me to go, I have now been to the docs. Having had a good wheeze and cough I have been put on antibiotics. They don't think it is whooping cough but will get a chest xray if it doesn't clear as it has been an unusually long time (2 months).
The funniest thing is that in spite of the wheezing, my breath function (sorry have forgotten name of test already - I really am Dory) is 120% of what it should be even though doesn't appear to be what it is normally. Apparently this is very good. I was quite surprised at that. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Your spirometric results are indeed very good.

P eople become needy for all sort of reasons and, as long as they are needy at the time they ask for help, I don't think it matters why they fell into that position.
here is always a balance between putting too many questions/ obstacles in the way of people in order to suss out the genuinely needy from those trying it on. At least the food bank is giving food not money.
I do some voluntary work with the needy. We had a discussion about working out who was in genuine need and who wasn't. If you help 20 people and 1 really didn't need the help then so be it if putting barriers in the way would deter some in genuine need. On the other hand if you help 20 people and 19 weren't in need then you are helping in the wrong direction.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. *goes away to look that up*
Yes, that's definitely what I had, even if it wasn't what she called it. My French windows....looking slightly odd because of angle
Also lest anyone not realise that they have not been painted white but rather a very off white
I matched the 10 year guarantee paint as close as I could to the f and b colour already chosen. Against the brick it looks white, but softer, darker, less 'garish' and harsh.
It's too Georgian, IMO, to go a beautiful braver slobby colour, which I would have loved, but this is a good softening of a classic without fighting it.0 -
I really like that colour lir. Is it a sort of light putty colour, or is that just how it is coming over on my screen.
On a different note, I don't know how I keep doing it, but I have managed to miss a whole bunch of posts in the middle of this page, again. I think when I page down sometimes my laptop jumps a couple of pages. Then people start discussing things and I think "where on earth did that come from" only to discover it was there all along. Does that happen to anyone else? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I think I am about 24. I also think I am brunette. I am neither of those things any more and some days recently I have felt every one of my years and some extra.
The low point this week has got to have been being described in this thread as a coffin dodger. Should we ever meet in RL the poster of that can stop worrying about their wisdom teeth as I will prabably knock them out with the punch I will throw.
Mr Spirit has been awating a quote for some dentistry. He has sent a text to me today to say he has the email and that he thinks he will have to sell a kidney. It is £8-10,000:eek:
It would probably be cheaper to have a couple of LIR's white ceramic stoves installed. He would not be able to eat toffees though.
This post properly made me lol...:rotfl:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Yes. I know posts appear after I have posted, even when I refresh. It happens quite often, I often only go back and see when someone else refers to one of these posts or quotes it and I think 'huh?'
And yes, it's a light putty colour. It's called Shaded white, and I think that's fair, a sort of shaded/dirty white, but more beigey greeny off white than yellowy. I don't like yellowy whites, though I like yellow!0
