Now, yes it's possible to fill the oven and bake other things - but that's pretty long-winded/annoying if all you wanted was a spud and now you're having to cook a whole oven of stuff.... and then that stuff has to be frozen, so [a] do you have space in the freezer will you actually fancy it/is it as nice re-heated from frozen.
So ... proper baked spuds ... a past life dream
Oh no, the heat heats my kitchen, I am grateful for it!
On os they say you can cook a whole batch, freeze them and nuke to reheat...all thje pleasure of a real spud, convenient for workers and less expense per spud.0 -

We stick potatoes in the microwave then put them in the oven for 5 mins on 250 to crisp up the skin. Works a treat. Or rather it used to work before I stopped eating potatoes.0 -

What I do now is use small spuds, cut them in half, put the halves in my steamer, nuke/steam them and serve. I find the texture that way is more like a jacket spud than one that's just nuked.0 -
I did try to work out how much running the oven cost when I had a digital leccy meter and could see the pennies being spent. I think it's more the 'fear of the cost' rather than the cost itself.
I didn't mind running the oven too much in the studio as it was one room so heated the room I was in; it'd seem a waste to be heating a kitchen I wasn't going to be in.0 -

You need a superdooper combined microwave halogen oven - proper baked potato (or even better than as the skin is crisp but not too hard doen in about 15 minutes. :?

Dyas do a 7 ltr version of this one http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/P~149583~Nuo-Halogen-Oven for £21
I've had my Halogen oven for over two years. In that time I've probably only used my other oven half a dozen times. In fact today I've cooked a full roast dinner in it.0 -
In small houses/kitchens, of the type I am most likely to have access to .... a halogen oven would simply take up too much worktop space.
I also have doubts that I'd be able to safely operate one. e.g. am I tall enough to get things in/out without burning my arm? I bet they're quite tall. Most kitchen worktops are already as high as my ribs.
I'd have to see/use one for a few weeks to see if they were safe/dangerous for me or not.
I plan to, eventually, get a mini oven/grill probably ... or maybe a combi/nuker.0 -
BUCS 21 - Aints 7 .............gotta love NFL Game Pass :j
I'm sitting at Tampa International, overlooking RayJay with 2kg of Reeces Pieces and other assorted crap US candy in my hand luggage. People here aint looking happy. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Not on my phone though... On my netbook. Tampa is very civilised and has free wifi. When you get to the gate they even have desks with free electric and free wifi. Very nice.
ETA: sorry the reason they are not happy is that the BUCS flushed it down the toilet. Went from huge winning margin to chucking it away. At least I think that's what happened. The TVs have suddenly discovered other channels. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
