Heey, finally found your diary again! I'm subscribing now I'm tracked it down. :D

Happy New Year, I can already see from the home made gift thread that you're off to a flyer - well done!

Your Christmas, and indeed your life, seems really hectic! Just factor in the pyjama days, tell everyone else you're doing something else and turn off the phone. :)

You should be really really pleased at having £30 left at the end of the month, that's loads! :j Way more than I have ever managed. Go you.
    Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.
    O/D £500. Weight loss: 12/28lbs :o Savings owed [STRIKE] £3000 [/STRIKE] now £2250 :( Total debt: [STRIKE] £6760 [/STRIKE] now £5440

Homemadehappiness wahoo you're back :) I've been a bit hit and miss lately but the new year (and lack of Christmas!) seems to make us focus a bit more :) I look forward to the more determined you! :D

Heyyy Fudge, here I am! haha although I didn't know I was lost, I'm sorry! I'm also looking forward to my homemade gift year, hopefully it will give me some focus! One of my new years resolutions is to stop and breathe a bit more - I'm just not very good at it, I like doing things to the point where I half burn out and then spend the other half of the year not doing a single thing. I'm hoping being more organised and knowing my limits should calm this down a bit. It's a work in progress!

First day back at work was bearable, once I was there it was fine, although by dinner time I was ready for home! Didn't help that my mind was full of gift crafting rather than work! I quite like the structure of work days, if only I could have that and chill at home at the same time my life would be perfect haha.
One of our other NY resolutions is to eat better - since OH went on placement our eating habits have gone to pot, both OH and myself have ended up feeling really unhealthy and I've ended up a bit underweight. So as of today we're back on the meal plans, back to getting our good fill of fruit and veg and I need need NEED to remember to take my lunches to work!! £33.14 was spent in the supermarket on food to last us until Monday, and Asda are doing a free delivery which we plan on making the most of - I've never had my food shop delivered and am a bit sceptical but I know a lot of people on here are a fan so thought we may as well give it a whirl! Put £30 petrol in the chuggster, I'm really enjoying this having a separate account for my petrol, makes me forget I've got it and then I don't have to worry that I'm at the end of month with no money left for petrol! Should also end up with extra money left due to not using the car as much over Christmas. Right Scuff, quit yer wittering and go to bed!

Hello everyone :) just a quick post before I bob along and do some useful things in the flat! Need to get the following done tonight:

    - dishwasher emptied and refilled
    - clothes horse emptied (sick of tripping over it every morning - it's on my side of the bedroom!)
    - at least one load of washing done (2 if poss)
    - half an hour of ironing

Had a day out of the office today. I was really excited for my lunch cos of this because it means I can claim it as an expense so was looking forward to yummy scrummy grub - the guy who was also out with me said he wanted McDonald's!!! And there was no convincing him other wise. So I was a bit disappointed. And slightly embarrassed handing in an expenses form for McD's! Did also get my receipt for my prof membership fees so claimed expenses for them too. Umming and ahhing about what to do with the money - I paid it on my credit card (£184) as it's 0% on purchases as well as balance transfers (don't know how I swindled that one!) and originally planned to pay it straight back to the CC, but as I'm paying interest on OD1 I don't know if I should pay it towards this instead, or whether I'd just be getting into more of a pickle? Also been looking at these 2 year 0% cards and trying to decide whether it's a good idea to switch?! My head's a muddle today

I also want to start to crochet tonight, will see how fast I get the other bits done (tbh shouldn't take more than 45mins) and eat my tea (oriental belly pork slow cooked mmmm smells DELISH!) & then take it from there :)

    - [strike] at least one load of washing done (2 if poss) [/strike] - 2 'cheaty' loads done - jumpers are drying on the clothes horse (non-iron...), towels are on a wash and dry (non-iron..)
    - [strike] half an hour of ironing [/strike] Did more than this but now my basket is EMPTY wahooooo!

Was going to start on learning to crochet tonight but instead I'm going to figure out a pattern / materials for an owl bag I'm making, the first of my year of homemade gifts. Hoping to make it from as much already owned fabric as possible! We shall see!

Morning! (Although quite honestly feels like the middle of the night - I'm knacked! Was actually fighting with my eyelids in a meeting just now! :( ) Not much to report really, things are a bit boring aroud here money wise atm!
Our rent is going up to £595 starting February, this is only an increase of £45 between the 2 of us but still annoys me - we could be putting that money towards the house deposit and be nearer to stopping wasting money on something we wont ever get any return from (sorry the whole renting malark really gets my goat sometimes - like today) Need to talk to the bank and change the amount, although maybe we can do this online? I'll check tonight. We also really need to up the saving (from the joint) this year, because at the rate we're saving it'll be 10 years before we get to £20K, and I don't even think that'll be enough. Need to look into another savings account as although the one we're using at the moment is 6% it's limited to £3k for the year, which really isn't enough - I'll have a looky at lunchtime.

Flat-wise I managed to sneak another load (just 'smalls' as my nanna would say :P) of washing in last night, onto timer so it would start and finish before I left for work - didn't time it quite right so it finished minutes before I needed to actually leave hence didn't get hung up - put it in the basket anyway as I think this will be better that festering in the machine all day - and who knows OH may even hang them up for me ;) This means only 2 loads and im DONE! And I'm staying on top of the damn thing from then on! Little and often may be the best way to go?
Me-wise, Jan's main aim is to get to bed early - It's been post midnight by the time I've been tucked up this week and I'm obviously starting to feel it! Amazing what difference that hour makes (although 11 seems to come around TOO FAST!) I also need to eat better and spend less but these are by the by! Trying to minimise my list of 'resolutions' to 1 per month (may change this to fortnight? I'll assess how easy they are to get used to!) so I'm not overfaced and therefore give up! Going to bed on time should be relatively simple!

    This weekend I need to:

    - 2 loads of washing / iron if needed
    - Change bed
    - Start on owl bag
    - Hoover flat
    - Wipe round bathroom

Also seeing mum on Sat and Dad is coming for Sunday dinner on Sunday (obviously) Should be a pretty chilled weekend tbh, looking forward to it!

Hope everyone else is well :)

Okay confession time, just bobbed to Tesco to pick up a quick bite for lunch (need to get this prepared!!!) and came out after spending £13.78 :o £8.08 of this is cleaning supplies / toothpaste and so I can get this back from the joint (due to my poor finances in the past I have the basic of basic-est cards and so can't use chip and pin) but the other £5.70 was on 2 packs of sushi (2 for £2) & ahem... 3 Krispy Kremes. So now I feel twice guilty and a bit sick!

I did clean all the cr*p out of my car into tescos bin though, and found 20p in the process - when I put this in my tin it means I'll have £10 & so might put this straight onto OD1!

  • Tesco at lunchtime is my downfall too scuff. I need to get organised. The prob is I hate homemade sarnies and as I work in the community I have no facilities to warm up food.

Need to put my thinking cap on.

Thinking will keep £3 cash with me during the day.

    GL x

Could you try hm pasta, salads etc, things that you can eat cold? £3 cash is a good idea, I usually carry my purse with me, we have a canteen at work but I can only spend cash in there, so having no real money works until I decide on a lunchtime trip!! I blame the yumminess of those damn doughnuts!!

Had a pretty productive day today:
-[STRIKE] 2 loads of washing / iron if needed[/STRIKE] Did 2 clothes loads, bedding washed ironed and back on, and washed & dried the tablecloth & put it back on the table. One load of washing is still drying so will iron that tomorrow
    - [STRIKE]Change bed [/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]Start on owl bag[/STRIKE] Cut out fabric, bondawebbed the wings
    - Hoover flat - will do this tomorrow
    - Wipe round bathroom - made a start as I was brushing my teeth etc, but will finish rest tomorrow

In addition to this I went into town to meet mum, treat myself to some new underwear from M&S sale, some 1lb loaf tins and a lovely mini drawer unit in TK Maxx (kind of like a library card unit) which is perfect for my jewellery making storage - thought it was a bargain at £29 and bought it out of my birthday money so technically it's a present! Pretty impressed tbh, I think the main reason no-one had bought it was because at some point the drawers had been swapped over, and as there's 12 of them they don't all fit in perfectly to every hole. I just swapped them all around for a bit until I got good matches and then Bob's your uncle! I also got a spare key cut for the car, but when we tried it, it doesn't work :mad: don't know what the deal is with taking it back but will see if they're open tomorrow!

Don't know if anyone's ever used the 'rag and phone man' (company that have units based in retail park car parks) but was wondering do they pay for your 'rags' or is it just like taking things to the tip? I've looked on the website but can't find anything. OH has a lot of jeans he'll never wear again but are too ratty on the bottom to take to CS or ebay - was wondering whether this would be a good idea?

Right, off to start learning to crochet! (This may go badly, mainly due to Sailor Jerry affecting my sobriety slightly!)
