I still get asked for a Christmas list from my sis!!! :rotfl: Mum also finds having one usefull
Sis already has a mini one for me, where I've seen things in the sales.
But I give different lists to both, otherwise I'll no doubt end up with the same thing twice!Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
I received the bag for life from the thegoodbagco.com, recommended by Tinselfairy, and its lovely. Going to use for my SIL and her bf nice/posh food hamper. Realised today I have about 4500 points on our Nectar card so might use that in Sainsburys for some bits for them or use them in Argos for someones pressie. Brought some lovely Christmas Spiced tea bags from Whitards today for their hamper, 30 for a £1 - look a bargin! quote]
I was in the Co-op yesterday and noticed that their 'best of' range has a third of things like honey, salad dressings and most importantly for Christmas shortbread!....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

Hi All! Just nipped into Boots on my local retail park and picked up some fabby bargins for my hampers.
Got a No7 lip palette and mirror compact for £1 would have been at least £7 originally, will go in one of my pamper hampers
Collection 2000 party compact for £1.50 - marked £6 for 9yo cousin
Lovley dark wood photo frame £6 - from £12 - will put pics in and give my sis
Some deep sea salts £1.87 from £8.50 - will go in mums/mil/sil hampers
Also got 2 gorgeous hurricane lamps in heavy glass, £7.50 from £15, but think these will look lovely on my new fireplace lol.
Paid for all these on my points, then got bits I needed for DS (20% off baby stuff), paid £5.49 and got a £5 off skincare voucher, used for Olay for mums/mil pamper hampers! So two huge bags of stuff for techinally only £5.49!!!! Bargins - see pays to shop for Christmas earlier lol! They also had some other lovely photo frames, etc but didn't think they were worth the money even at half off.
Well pleased, only thing is now my Christmas pressie box is bulging and have to move it all!Lightbulb moment 15th Feb 2007:doh: Now Debt Free and plan on it staying that way!
Baby on board!:D0 -

I'm totally fed up with the queues at shops in the run up to Christmas .... last year I swore to myself that I would start shopping early, and that I'd try and do more online shopping?
MoneySavingExpert has pointed me in the right direction this past week in terms of new shops, especially ones with discounts. Where do you guys go online for Xmas gifts?
For what it's worth, here are the places I've bought from so far:
Powerboating gift / "experience" at http://www.gifts.co.uk/powerboating-is-fun_128.html. Got this for my brother.
Toys and games for kids at http://www.fantasticals.co.uk/. Obvious ... for the kiddies
Personalised photo calendars at http://www.top-gifts.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=3. Got some lovely customised calendars. Discount code DISC10 gives you 10% off there.
Novelty games / gifts (some good adult ones) at http://www.drinkstuff.com/. The site http://www.discount-voucher.co.uk/promotion/Drinkstuff.php# has discount codes (including 25% off) for this shop. The code for 25% off is STAFFdisc.
Perhaps we should start a thread where we just list the best shops we've found? Any takers ?
 My powerboat experience that I bought for my brother has arrived in the post this morning, as has the personalised photo calendars (both same day). This is FAB .... I must say !! Can deffo see what all the fuss is about with online ordering! No shops for me this Xmas!! WOOHOOO !!! :beer:0 -
Hi guys.
Been thinking about what to be getting/looking out for for various people. I love the personalised mugs that are on hawkins bazaar. Really cute. wondered if my sis and her fiance would like one each. They have just announced their engagement and want to get married next year. I was going to make the a joint hamper thing for christmas and wondered about making them a wedding planning hamper - put some books in a planner, notebooks, confetti, bottle of wine to help them along - ear plugs for her fiancee when she goes on too long etc etc. What do you think???? We are getting married december and she has been so sweet saying she won't start planning until we are married so she doesn't steal the spot light etc.
Also my sil to be and her fiance have just bought a flat so I thought we could make a house type gift - some vouchers for John lewis or ikea or something with some mugs, tea towels etc all done up nicely - what to you think?
i keep picking up on your hints and tips - thanks xxr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

great of your sister to hold off planning until after your wedding, very thoughtful.
house-type hamper is an excellent idea, loads of stuff you can put in that though it depends if they already have a home and are kitted out already? maybe a corkscrew, tin opener? will they be liable to power cuts - some pretty candles and matches? things they probably wont think to buy until they need them!;)... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

r.mac - those hampers sound amazing. Ive had a really horrid week so far, my pregnant sister got rushed to hopsital night before last, been having major rows with bf (which thankfully seems to be over now) sister is ok but have been panicing and worrying about her, and my mil is having problems of late so shes offloading all her stress and worries at me which i cant tell my bf (her son) aaaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im happier today though because my tescos vouchers came through so i know i have £11.50 in vouchers ready to go for the christmas shop - im not planning on using them until i have to. Plus im thinking if i can get a list together im going to attempt to get all the stuff for my hampers before the end of November so they are easier to get gone basically. and i can focus december on my bf and son then which will mean life is less stressful - im hoping bf will want to go chrismtas shoppign early this year too rather than christmas bleeding eve!!!!Time to find me again0
