Well after reading through this thread I must admit you've inspired me to get started.

I've decided that I'm going to make as many presents as possible -

Food/Drink Hampers - home made wines, personalised christmas cake, shortbread, jams & preserves, fudge

Bath Baskets - bath salts, soaps, bath bombes, candles

    Jewellery

And I'll make the cards, wrap, tags & decorations

For the older kids I'll give them vouchers as I've already got some.

I guess I'm lucky that I am a creative person with loads of craft items already at home, plus I actually enjoy it and I'll package the items beautifully.

Time to make some room in the studio me thinks :j

Thank you so much for picking up on my questions and I really appreciated your tips and luckily have the Delia Christmas book and already make my own Christmas pud from her recipe.:j

    you're very welcome!!

actually.. about the christmas pud. I've never made delia's recipe, so i can't say how good it would be but if you haven't already gotten the ingredients or made it i do have a recipe for a gorgeous christmas pudding - Rich and Boozy christmas pud, which came from a book that is now out of print. I can pm you (or anyone else that matter) the recipe, but i can't put it on here as it'll violate the copyright. It really is gorgeous - three different kinds of booze go into it (port, rum and brandy) and the kitchen just smells gorgeous when its being cooked in the pressure cooker. I usually end up making at least three - one for us, one for mom and dad, one for my best friend, but some years i have made as many as 6!!! It also doesn't have mixed peel in it, which is a plus for many people who hate mixed peel.

anyway, yell if you want the recipe (or anyone else for that matter)...

    xx

p.s. actually i've just remembered the other reason i offer this recipe up a lot - its one of the only ones i've seen that don't use suet, even veggie suet, in it. That's popular with a lot of people.

My first post on this list after reading the whole thread wow you guys are great :rotfl:

I am well chuffed this year as this is the first time I will be organised usually it's November before I get started :rotfl: We have £370 in the bank ready for pressies and food, £32 in tesco stamps for booze and I have bought/sorted 3 pressies and some stocking fillers already with another 2 ideas worked out :j

We buy for 13 Adults and 8 children which are close family and then there is probably 6 more children school friends, small pressies, on top of that.

Like many on here I start buying non-perishable food ect a bit at a time from now on to help spread the cost but our bedroom looks like a tip by the time xmas comes  Also bought all the wrapping and tags in Jan last year for the first time ever so that's another thing sorted.
