For the first time, I've been trying to get a few presents in if I see anything good in sales or BOGOF things - I know, it sounds soooo obvious, but until I started budgeting better, I never had spare money to buy stuff to keep in for Christmas presents etc :o
Just remembered also - been saving 5p's in a piggy bank (no point me saving £2 coins as it'd be too easy to dip in) - there was around £15 there at the last count!

I know what you mean Pam - Ive been trying to save for ages for christmas but ive learnt being prepared is better than saving and having a mad dash at the end. any money i am managing to get thats extra im saving up so i can put them altogether and at christmas can give bf a check to help pay off his debts quicker - although i expect i will send it off and just get a recipe sent from the debt company saying they have received it!
  • :xmassign: yah Ive started my Christmas shopping after being inspired by this thread

I know my youngest is 3 so he isnt really old enough to do a christmas list but as long as its either a) thomas the tank engine, b) dinosaurs c)police cars/fire engines or d) lazytown - i cant go far wrong with him but the 6 year old is a totally fdifferent kettle of fish

    Evening all

Think this is my first post on this thread. Have got most Christmas presents already! And those that i still need to get i know exactly what i'm getting (apart from my sons main pressies, they'll change heir minds lots bebfore the big day i'm sure ;)).

Quite relieved i'm so organised this year as we're changing our kitchen in October so will be manic here and by Christmas i'll be 35 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby!

    Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....
  • Have £15 so far on my Boots giftcard for the pressies, will shoot up by December.

Will try and get the food over the next few months with careful voucher spending at Tesco

Will not do like i did last year and wait til a couple of hours to go on Christmas Eve as there was not the foodie bargains i had hoped for.

Know its not very MSE but would rather buy the prepared stuff and save time on Christmas day than spend hours in the kitchen as i'm not the worlds best cook and would end up under the counter after consuming too much booze :)

    Hi all,

Great thread - I've got a few of the presents sorted and watching out for more. Have done small hampers for a few years, now - only small, but nice little luxuries like extra special biscuits and coffee, etc. Love the ideas on this thread, though - will be giving extra imaginative and themed ones this year, I think !

I notice the Hawkin website has got a sale on until 10 August. Lots of unusual gifts and stockingfillers at 50% off. www.hawkin.co.uk

I love this shop / site - always seem to get a few extras from here for the kids stockings or for those awful family members who've already got everything you can think of.

Oh dear I have been sucked in and it's only just August!!

I would like to put together a gardener's/gardening kit for my BIL - he is very keen and likes to grow his own veg/herbs etc and isn't so interested in flowers! Any ideas as to what I could put into his plant pot?
Woolies have lots of gardening bits for sale..some really cheap ..maybe there would be something suitable there.
