Don and Deep in Debt - of course you know them both personally, know the actual ins and outs of their situation, not just what you read in a paper and therefore can comment. Because seeing as this place is for support and non-judgement of ALL BRs, it would horrible to think you were casting judgements on people and situations you know nothing about, wouldn't it?

I am always amazed at the curtain twitching, old lady gossiping, downright spiteful comments on threads such as this - commenting from an information source that is as suspect a publication as News of the World really does make you sink as low as the comments you are throwing at others. Let he whom is without sin and all that.

I sort of agree with you, Pixie. We should bear in mind that this is a woman who showed people how to fold guest towels into the shape of tortoises (Perfect Housewife, Season 1), which either has to be a cry for help from a tortured soul or irony at a level so deep and complex as to be barely imaginable.

I am sorry I don't need to know the ins and outs of their situation. The comment "we might lose our mansion" says it all and shows just how materialistic they are. so they might lose a mansion, I am certain that they will still not have to worry about actually having a roof over their heads like some BR's on here. or that they are not going to struggle to actually have money for food from one week to the next. These people are by choice - public figures - and they end up in the news because of past or present actions which make them famous, again by choice. so they expose themselves to comment.

I was not being spiteful to say I thought that they were silly - taking money from a company that owes suppliers who will now go out of business in order to line your own pocket is selfish and more deserving of criticism than my comments. think of the people that they will now put out of business because of their greed. And they do need a sharp wake up call (which is what BR does for you) so hopefully they will go on to learn their lesson from this which is to manage finances better which is what I have learned from my experience.

I agree the News of the World is a sensationalist paper which has probably exaggerated matters to some extent.

If you do not want to invite the public's comments, then do not make yourself a public spectacle.

Any 'celebrity' bankruptcy will always attract the attention of the sensationalist press - after all I doubt whether my bankruptcy would have helped to sell more newspapers - other, of course, than the six copies of the local weekly rag that I bought in order to see if my case had been reported.

Yes, I agree that the published comments, regarding the possible loss of their 'mansion' shows just how materialistic they can be, but we don't know the content of the whole interview and whether this was taken out of context, under what can, loosely be described as 'Journalistic Licence'.

We do, however, know that as far back as April, Bovey was demonstrating an extremely 'arrogant' attitude towards those who 'dared' to suggest that his property empire was in trouble. Threatening to sue anybody who published any critical reports about his business dealings is hardly likely to endear him to the tabloids - or the general public for that matter.

I do NOT defend Bovey and I'm not really sure what, if any, input Anthea Turner would have had in their current demise. However, at the end of the day this couple are having to face up to reality in the same way that most of us have had to. I sincerely hope that Bovey shows a less 'arrogant' approach in 'Dealing with Bankruptcy' than he has done in the run-up to it.

The major difference between his case, and that of most of us, is that he does have an assett, in the form of Anthea Turner, that can not be 'siezed'. So I doubt, very much, that even if they do 'lose their mansion' they are going to have to turn to the Local Government Housing Authority for help.

That said, I am sure that if either of them registers on this website, we would, in true DFW spirit, be pleased to point them in the right direction.

Is towel folding, a job still open to BRs? I'm still looking for work, and I wondered if it pays well. I'm sure I can do it to a high OCD standard.

I'm just off to the airing cupboard!

If basic folding, yes. If tortoise-shaped, you have to be vetted.

I came home to an airing cupboard full of tortoises! However some of them look like they've had unfortunate accidents - comes of not being vetted, I suppose.:D:D:D
