Ah thanks NSJ - you are also super enthusiastic which is why I've been loving your diary
:) the key will be in keeping this up all the way through, challenges here I come!!
Yep you're right with the amounts, although next NYE won't be my DFD - total debt is 44K, but I wanted to make a goal that was still huge but achievable to get some results next year. Then the plan is a new goal for the year after, which will be to clear it, eeeeekk!!! So look out for me on your monthly challenges soon - although I have a feeling you will be leaving these boards very soon: :j for you!!
The sabbatical sounds just AWESOME - I'm sure confirmation will come through v soon and then you can start planning, which is half the fun, and using YOUR money for what YOU want to do with it - that's got to feel good

Hello Ninja Kat!
I hope you are great! I see you are achieving your goal and I am very impressed indeed!
I personally was and I am still very embarrassed to post in your other threats because I have been spending to much!
After the purchase of the new bath in the January's sale I got carried away and I started re-decorating the kitchen too and we are just about finishing it! ahh! and my two weeks long trip exploring Scotland :-/
My husband wanted for a long time to buy a piano for my son so he bought a new mini grand piano for him..he is so happy!
It is lovely reading you...
Take care..No debts 🙌0 -
Iwillsuceed - nice to have you back on the thread with your MASSIVE letters!..;- ).. So that is a LOT of spending that you have been doing?. A question if you don't mind. Do you have an out-standing CC and a Payday Loan whilst holding a lot in savings? Am I reading that right? I am just curious as to why you might have that much in savings whilst having debt...? But please correct me if I am wrong...
Daisystar I had a read and comment on your personal thread. I think you will get this done no problem. Trust me the struggles, sacrifice and patience is all worth it in the end...
I might hand around, I might start my own blog.. I am not sure. But MSE takes up a lot of my time and I want to culminate it all in one area plus my challenges..
We shall see....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Right - payslip is in. I have enough to pay off £1483.70 off the total amount left on my loan (I like pennies as well ). This leaves me with only £800 to pay in December. I never thought that I would be able to get myself to this point. I thought I would have to use some of Januarys pay as well.
I had been putting money aside for my bike as well and expecting to pay £300 towards the Service and MOT. I paid £29.50 for the MOT only.
I am worried that when I pay off that last £800 in December there will be ANOTHER interest charge lurking around ready to drop in January so I am going to have to speak to the bank and make sure as I don't really want that hanging around for when I hit 2014.
I have told Mum and Dad we are going out for dinner when I get home at Christmas to celebrate. There is a little restaurant buried in the depths of the Norn Iron countryside built around an old water mill that I want to visit. They were on FB with a good review but only 2 stars of the veggie side of things. I commented on FB that this was disappointing but they said they would create anything I required including veggie fair. This is what I want to hear. Mumy thinks they don't offer it cause they don't know how - I am assuming it's supply and demand etc etc but either way we are heading for a feast....**waffle waffle**..
Anyway... I have one more OT shift at the end of this month. Sunday was frightening in the rain on the way home and despite passing my MOT I swear my lights are rubbish. They were barely able to illuminate the white lines.. which is never good on a motorbike..... So I am back in this coming Sunday for a full 8 hours..
Right that's super boring-ness so I shan't go on any more...

NSK is your final debt a loan or on a card?
If it's a loan you can ask how much it would cost to close the account on a set date and they'll give you a figure including all interest owed.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
New roof and car £8557/£19003 New kitchen £396/£5039 Credit card Paid Student loan Paid0 -
Yes it's a loan. I might do that then after I have made Novembers contribution and it's been a few days so registered with their sustems adequatly. Thanks hun - that would make things a lot easier to plan around!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Hey Kat just popping in to say how great it is that you are down to just one more payment then you will be debt-free. You have done so well and I am thrilled for you that it has all worked out for you. You really deserve it for all your hard work in overtime, selling on eBay and really depriving yourself ( let's not think about The birthday holiday!!).
On top of all that in busting your own debts you have helped, encouraged and challenged so many others to also tackle their debts and I for one am truly grateful for that. I never thought I would be sitting here knowing I will make a payment tomorrow then have two more payments and I'm done. It's unbelievable! And all because I came across you and all the lovely people on your thread and challenges.
Good luck for one more payment and then you will be able to celebrate your achievement with your family. :T:T:TMFIT -T5 #420 -

Wow wow wow well done!!! I like the waffling you were doing,I can totally imagine doing that when I'm near the end of the debt busting journey as I think about all the things I'm going to do and how it will all work out
I also want to say thanks for your encouraging words, this is my first week of keeping a diary and I'm finding the transition tough, but I keep thinking of you saying that I won't regret the struggles and sacrifices and I know its true. So, thank you

StopLurking - that is so amazing. You must be super proud of yourself - what little things have you changed though? I am always intrigued as to how people retify things in their life and really and truly reap the rewards as you are. Two payments to go!! You must be very happy!! You always have a kind word for me and I truly appreciate it. I think you guys have helped me immensly as I carry a load of guilt that I would let you down if I bought something I shouldn't - my mottto is practise what you preach!!
..
Kbarty - SO happy the first day went well!! I was in Asda the other day - due to the train diversions my bus went right through an area I don't really visit that often so I got off to have a snoop. It was so busy - you will have your work cut out for you although I was wondering if it's your store...:rotfl:.. So how did you find that extra money to get below £9000... it's a great feeling when you see the number reduce to an 8... so cool! Well chuffed for you - this debt will be gone in no time!!!
DaisyStarr - I can't say it was easy - but even managing to pay for that aforementioned disaster of a birthday holiday made me think that I would much rather have put it towards the debt and gotten rid of it sooner. However I will say making goals were the most important thing I did - short term goals. Clear all the "bitty bits" before the end of 2012 ( I started in November) which included the ex-boyfiend, the CC and an overdraft and only have the big loans to deal with come january.
This worked and I managed it. Then the next was to be rid of the student loan and the bike loan by the end of May. I managed that by the skin of my teeth.
Then this current one is the last to go! And yes - it will be worth it in the end!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
