Oooh another Aries. I wasn't sure. I am the 5th April!... I want to up my income as well. As much as I can do OT at work, when it's not available I am "scr*wed"... A real time job with good money to cover travel etc as well can be hard - is there good money to be had working online..?

I need to find a niche product that people cannot live without and sell it on Fleabay...

hehe, my birthday is the 4th so I want to be debt free on the 3rd, so I can wake up to my new year all nice and free! ;)

The lionbridge job I did was boring and annoying and there were times I hated it, but for convenience it was great! And it was real work too, not a scam, I think the least I earned was £200 a month or thereabouts and that was when there wasn't much work in or I had a holiday. The contract was 11 months so also perfect for my timing last year. I finished just before we set off. I'll definitely be looking at one of the other companies doing similar when I get our internet properly installed tomorrow.

Got an interview on Wednesday too - (A$da), not holding out much hope, but you never know! Will keep applying for jobs in the meantime.

Good luck with the decluttering, it's hard I know, but feels great. At least it's only your own stuff, I hated trying to get our kids and my DH's stuff decluttered! I'm too much of a softie :)

    Good Morning Readers...

It's a pleasant day in NSK land for a number of reasons.
    • I have decided to declutter and that is firmly in progress.
    • LovelyLandLady is away today until Tuesday.
    • My energy levels since getting to bed early have soared.
    • I have had two full days with no need or desire for energy drinks.
    • I don't miss drinking tea at all.
    • I don't miss cheese, ice cream, eggs, yoghurt etc at all.
    • I am thoroughly determined to drink more water everyday
    • I will be debt free in two paydays...
So as you can see I have a lot to be greatful for. I have booked my flight home to see my parents for Christmas on the 17th December which Mumsy has said she will pay for.

Having spoken to a colleague this morning who is taking a sabbatical in November for 5 years ( the max anyone in our company can take ) it occured to me that I am planning my own demise by thinking that I will "need" to come back in 2-3 years.

I can make anything happen. I have proven that already. I have a blog created and an idea in mind that only time and effort can make happen. Why be a defeatist before I have even started.

    So...
    • I will take a 5 years sabbatical from 1st October 2014.
    • I will take all my annual leave in September 2013 and go stay with my parents for a month (they don't know yet) and deliver Dorothy The Mog.
    • I will sell Hercules the Bandit.
    • I will travel, travel, work and travel some more. I will not stop until there is real reason too.
    • I will book a flight to Bangkok from Belfast International Airport in December if I am debt free for the 1st October 2014...:T:T:T
That's my declaration - now watch this space....:)

    Onwards and Forever Upwards!!!

  • Kbarty how did that interview go??? And when I get on the road my blog will be posted, when you are on the road, come find me??...;-)

I think it went well, I'm determined to be positive about it (I sounded very much NOT positive earlier!) I should find out by the end of today, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Good luck with the last two months, are you on target to make it easily?

  • You will have to come back on and tell us ... I have my fingers crossed for you.

Yes overtime done to clear a payment of £1442 on November 1st and a further last payment of £840 in December.

This leaves me with overtime money to pay off the bike bits ( MOT / TAX and Insurance for the year) and be entirely clear by 1st December.

Phew! I think I might sleep for a week after all this.

  • Well hello everybody...

Kbarty that is SUCH good news! Well done you! Get your foot in the door then slam that overtime like a bandit. My frist shift with this company was overtime and I have never looked back. Would you consider night shifts ( no annoying customers to talk too and you can stack and stack to your hearts content with headphones in). Would they pay more on nights? Now since this has taken me a few days to respond to have you had your first shift yet?? SPill - how was it / when is it?

I am currently full of beans. I have had a full 8 days with no energy drinks and proper food and I feel brilliant. I have resisted muffins in the office yesterday as they were not vegan and baked a whole heap of goodies to keep me going through the week..(I have a NSK facebook page with pictures)... This new regime is paying off. I don't have a slump come 10am either which is when the cans of evil came out...

So today's lunch is pretty epic... this is what I have with me .. cause I wanna tell someone and get a pat on the head in return...**pat pat pat***...
    • Day started at 0500 with a warm glass of fresh lemon water.
    • 1 avocado for lunch to be eaten with home-made three seed cracks of chia / sunflower and pumpkin (with a little garlic and onion for good measure)..with
    • 1 medium size raw grated beetroot (very sweet) for lunch with....
    • A small tub of cooked millet tabbouleh (spring onions, sunflower seeds, bay toms, lemon juice & cucumber)
    • Two carrots in sticks for snacking.
    • 1 pear for snacking.
    • Soaked almonds (to ease digestion) for snacking.
    • 1 litre of green smoothie (spinach, apple, banana, celery, pear) for breakfast around 0730-0830.
    • Chia seeds, millet, coconut, sunflower seeds, raisons and a pinch of cocoa powder soaked in almond milk for second breakfast around 10am.
    • Fresh squeezed lemon ready to add to hot water with brown rice syrup.
    • 1 litre of water whilst at work.
    • Small tub containing a vegan peanutbutter cookie, a raison and pumpkin no-bake ball of yummy-ness rolled in coconut and an apple sauce vegan muffin.
    There - I won't starve! Lol!!!:rotfl:

Looking forward to squishing, wrapping and baking some tofu tonight. Just not sure what flavours to add! Can you tell I love food!

So yesterday I sent and email to my new line manager and asked for a 5-year sabbatical. I am sure I won't travel for that amount of time but the possibilities are endless. I want to ensure that it's secured for 1st September 2014 so come December / January when I find a cheap flight I can book it without worrying about work saying no.

5 years is long. I am looking forward to exploring foods around the world. I do need a change of career though but can't do whilst on sabbatical as that is kinda sly - and we can't bite the hand that feeds us. So I am awaiting more and assuming from passed colleagues experiance that it should be secured very soon.

It gives me a goal. I live goals. With goals I can achieve anything!

Yes, yes and yes!! :j Your diary is just what I need! I too get 'the itch' of which you speak, where you just feel the need to do something, make change happen and do it now!!

I think I am at the stage you were when you started this diary, although my debt is joint (and, ahem, quite a bit bigger than yours was), and I have started my diary with so much enthusiasm :) At the moment, though, there is just so much that I want to do and achieve running through my head that its all a bit chaotic so after reading your diary I have decided now is the time to make the declaration for Big Goal Number One: 20K by 31st December 2014 :D:D:D:D:D:D

There is no one that can do this but me, so bring it!

Thank you, thank you, thank you

I hope you get the 5 year sabbatical, would be great to leave a door open. Do let us know when you find out.

Healthy eating is sounding great, I have moments when I want to eat like that, but the rest of the family aren't always on board and the budget can't stretch that far for us all eating differently. We don't do too badly though, or we wouldn't if I could stop buying biscuits!

Start first shift on Friday, will let you know how it goes. :) Thanks for the encouragement, have had an up and down kind of day and feeling a bit wrung out to be honest :( Mind you, just updated my sig and not far from my aim for Oct, which will def be met this month. :D (end on a positive!)

  • Daisystar you are SO enthusiastic! This is brilliant. I am going to go to your personal thread and have a read so won't ask to many questions.. :).. I am so glad you have your DFD in mind. It makes it so much easier when you have a goal, tell everyone, then realise how embarassing it will be if you miss AND more importantly how much you will NEVER want to go through NYE with debt so that December deadline is evern more importnant and EXCITING!!!

So you are starting around the same time I did last year with the same amount of time just £3400 more I think yes? I think you will do it - it can be hard but you need to cut out EVERYTHING that is unnessesary and only have 1-2 outlest per month.. I pay for my cinema ticket up front each month (£16) and my gym (£34.50) - thats it. I don't go out any more... You can do it though!!!

Kbarty I am sorry you are having a pants day at the moment!! You only have £44 to get you to that goal - is there anything you can sell? I hope the shift goes well - you will have to keep me posted about that.. I took a walk to my local Tesco's near work to read the labels on products to see if I can spot anything new that's vegan. I am such a loser. But I would have fun in Asda as well.. probably wouldn't get any work done though....

Yes unless you are determined and have others on board it can be hard being a vegan. There is a lot of prep involved. Most of my friends are either veggie or vitually so - I am the first vegan.. but it is a little more expensive so I didn't do it while I was in the throws of debt busting...

I secured another two overtime shifts for the month so I am quids in for Christmas and told my Mum that I would provide a sweet treat box of vegan goodies and am attempting to talk them out of getting a turkey as we are a vegtarian household so I am annoyed that has slipped back in ( my brother was a bodybuilder and my gran wasn't always veggie so it was for them, then my Dad joined in and my Mum had some - and then there is me with my nut roast)...

Anyway I will keep you posted on my sabbatical. No doubt they will drag their heels.......

Onwards and Upwards girlies.... (I am still at work so need to crack on)...
