  • Hello all.........

Starting to have a little panic.... I have no OT for the next two weeks and this month is imperative to getting paid at the end of November to ensure all monie are paid off by the end of December... I have applied for an 11 hours shift that might bring in some pennies but not enough. I need another 4 shifts...

I am wondering what else I can be doing? I pay a lump sum at the beginning of the month then rely on OT but what can I do inbetween. Save getting ANOTHER job I am at a loss... any ideas from anyone..?

  • Kat!!! Catching up on 3 weeks on MSE and see you are now outstanding less than £3000!!! That is bloody amazing I'm so proud of you and you are an inspiration to everyone on here! You will be debt free by end of December I have every faith in that.
eBay? Mystery shopping? Sell yourself? Seriously the last one was a joke and I don't recommend you do that!

    Ill keep thinking ninja

  • Sell yourself?

It has crossed my mind momentarily....:rotfl:..but thank you so much for your lovely words! I shall keep you posted on my weird and wonderful ways of making money (legally)...:p

  • So in contemplating how I was going to pay the odds and sods associated with my motorbike in November I have had to sift back through this thread in order to figure out how much it was last year bacause it wasn't written on my policy...

I have read through so many old posts to find this entry as I know the amount was a shock to me and come to two conclusions...

1 / It seemed like I was either on LSD or Speed for the sheer rantings and ravings that I put on this thread in the beginning. It's no wonder half of those who were involved at the beginning have disappeared. What a nutter! Sorry all!:(

2/ I have forgotten how the little pennies can add up as I was so fixated on getting/saving money from anywhere possible and have now relaxed too much in that I rely heavily on overtime instead.

    So...the plan of action...

Bike insurance last year was £513. This was reduced from the suspected £623. I currently have £375 put aside with another two payments to come which will bring me to a grand total of £525. This should more than cover it.

On top of this I must account for TAX for 12 months @ £75 and MOT and a guestimated service charge of about £300.

November and December's wage will see off (hopefully) the last of the land with payments of £1480.70 and £364.57 respectively.

So - since I do not have enough money to pay the entirety of the expenditure needed for the bike it will go on the credit card. If I can earn OT in November and December then that's great but I won't see it until the end of the year and to declare myself officially debt free I want the money off my CC first...(gotta do it by the book you see)...

With the saved money taken into account it leaves me in deficit by £363... and this is where I need to get back to basics in earning cold hard cash and loading it onto the Credit Card...

£25 that I have saved from my birthday money will go towards it aswell. ( only £338 more to find...)..

So this is what I have to consider...
    • Sell all remaining books on eBay @ 99p starter prices.
    • Sell all teacups / vintage party items @ low prices on eBay.
    • Sell items of clothing on eBay @ 99p..
Actually.. I wonder if I could sell 300 items for 99p ... albeit I will nee the patience of a saint and a whole weekend of free listing but I do like a challenge...

And obviously fingers crossed for a few more shifts this month on OT but so far I have been unsuccessful!

That's it folks I am now leaving work........

  • Okay... I have been having a think. My travelcard finishes on the 9th of the month, and I go home on the 17th. Having put aside £199 for travel and only really needing £52 for one week of travel and £43 for a round trip to the airport I have £104 spare....

It's a start towards the outstanding £338... Now only £234 to find..

Debt amount as of October 2013 £14938.90 :eek:

    Debt amount today £14514.02 :mad::eek:
Have to pay £1117 a month off to achieve this.
  • Hello Poppy... you should check out my monthly challenges as well.. this month The October Awakening is giving people a run for their money...;- )

Otherwise someone told me you can post 100 things for 99p on eBay without charges so I am going to get on that shizzle this weekend..

Although possibly in line for two 12 hour shifts this weekend on double time which will solve my monetary issues mentioned above...

It's like a prayer being answered.....

Just popping in to say hello :hello:

I'm back from my holiday...eh, I stayed an extra few days and spent an extra few hundred pounds BUT, I can't tell you what a once in a lifetime (well, once in a decade maybe), amazing, inspiring, wonderful time I had :D I, as you know, don't spend money lightly but this was worth every penny! I'll spend the rest of the month making up my shortfall and no interest will be due. I've been back at work since Monday and everyone is noticing my glow - I feel nourished and grateful for the opportunities I have had and all the friendships I had a chance to revisit. Ah, I think I've turned into an old hippy :rotfl:

I seem to have blinked and your debt is below £3k Kat, that's amazing!!!!! Well done :D So, two more paydays? That's very do-able. You know it is. Shame about your new office accommodation - what you said about having little control over your career is true of almost all of us who work for someone else. You're doing the right thing focusing on our travels and getting away while you're not tied to anything or anyone (except princess Dorothy :)). Who knows where it might lead, physically, geographically, emotionally - see, I am turning into a hippy!!

I'll read all your posts fully later, I just thought I'd stop by and say Hi incase you thought I'd run off and forgotten about you all!

PS October budgets are going well - I've just spent on food, but I have a birthday party to go to at the weekend so I'll dent my misc budget, but more of that on the October thread......
