    Hello all!

    Happy New Year!

Just a quick pop-in before I head off to bed, back at work tomorrow.

Joined the January challenge, just paid off £200 my CC card, extra payment :)
Had to order a shop delivery for tomorrow, out of some essentials and want to go to the gym after work.

Catch up with you all later x
  • Evening all

Kat - it must be a total pain with shifts, trying to get yourself to sleep properly. Lord knows, just with a baby waking every now & again I sleep very badly so I am dreading my 8:30 to 5pm 3 days a week.

Foodwise, I think I will go down the batch cooking route, for health reasons. I can easily eat half a loaf of bread a day and I do not want to add back the stone I lost this year! (White bread... wayyyyyyy too much clover) - so maybe I will do chilli etc for myself. It will keep me more full & stop me from snacking. I used to be the one who had an entire desk drawer full of chocolate  and wondered why even 3 hours 4 nights a week at the gym didn't help... Yes seriously, 4 miles. 2 there, 2 back each day. It takes me about 25 minutes each way with my earphones in. I wish I could be good & run but there are no shower facilities so I have no choice but to be a bit more sedate! I don't think my pins will change all that much after the first few weeks of getting back into it! :(

eco thank you for your reply. Sorry to use the I word. It was the only one I could think of to distinguish between you & 'them' haha!! It is all very interesting. I'd say your cows have the better life & if you get better produce for it & can make a profit in a more environmentally friendly way, then you're doing a fab job! As for epic replies... I do it all the time. I'm the same in real life, jabber, jabber, jabber!! :rotfl:

Happy New Year Siouxsie. I do think you & Kat have found your moneysaving OH's in each other ;) whatever pushes you on to debtbusting greatness has to be good. :D:D:D

Lou - I managed to buy a tv purely so I can have some tv time to myself instead of (right now) watching Call of Duty, FIFA, Borderlands & all other rubbish PS3 games all day/night. It was budgeted for but I felt very down about it... Then I bought DD a pushchair yesterday. A necessity, and a very good price for what I have bought, but still not a very MSE choice :( Luckily it was all done before midnight last night so I started the new year with a clean sheet (albeit it had the imprints of last nights moneyspending..) A decent nights sleep and you will be right back on the wagon!

Happy New Year everyone. Hope those who partook in an alcoholic celebration aren't feeling too badly now ;)

    Hello all!

Back to work and a chance to catch up on here.

Did I say I'd done a Mr A delivery for today? I get lost with what I posted where. Anyway, as Hubby wants/needs to go to the gym I decided to get my shopping delivered because if we went shopping after the gym, it'd be bedtime by the time we got home!

Added on some food items so I shouldn't need to shop til a week Friday. Fish pie tonight, bean burgers, chicken thighs and enough fish for another fishy meal in freezer, pasta bake sauce in cupboard which could make 2 bakes if I add a bit of veg n meat, sausages n mince ordered to make 2x lasagnes and 2x sausage n spuds = 10 meals til next Friday :T

Lunches will just be butties, plenty of cereal in for breakfasts and hopefully I'll have £70 left over next Friday :D

    Hi again everyone!!!

I realised I never commented on the tithing 10% that you mentioned Kat... I've read this in numerous books on prosperity in one form or another... Alas - I can't honestly say I've always practised it.

That said - I set up a DD to the 'World Wildlife Fund' a few months back - although it's only for £10 a month at the moment. I sat down today and crunched the numbers, and I looked at the 'T
Harv Eker Jar System' you mentioned Happytogetdebtfree... I do have spiritual beliefs but they are not represented by a Church as such. 10% is a lot of money for me at the moment - and in my quest to get debt free as quickly as possible - it would set me back a lot. So - am going to stick with my £10 a month for now - which is a trickle I know - but it is something... and I'm going to keep on the buying a homeless person coffee or lunch (that we did in December's Debt Destruction). I'm going to look at other charities around and find maybe one or two more to give to... maybe 'Action Aid' and 'Mind' - we'll see. I do agree with the principal though - I feel giving something back is important - if not financially - then a kindness of donating time to help a cause perhaps?

Keep up the good work everyone!!!

    Morning all!

I agree it's hard to give money to charity when you're in debt yourself and 10% seems a lot. It would be nice to be in a financial position to do that though, hopefuly I will be one day soon.

I do sponsor a dog monthly, usually donate £5 to a good cause sponsoring people each month and we send a lot of our junk/books to the BHF. We have a BHF wheelie bin at work to donate unwanted goods, so handy.

I think every donation, however small, can help in a big way :)
  • Good afternoon one and all,

It's taken me days to read through this thread, I'm hooked now and want to thank NSK for being such an inspiration to so many people on here, and thank you to the rest of you for keeping the thread flowing with your stories and debt busting ideas and plans!

I will sort out a signature when I get the hang of it, but my debts are pretty straight forward....I have three credit cards, two are 0% and one isn't...grrrrr...this is the one I want to demolish first (although I haven't yet got as far as planning how or when yet!)

Anyway, to start, my plan is to try being ruthless and make a bit of extra pennies towards this. I have a lot of CD's which I have collected over the years that I want to get rid of. I have had a quick look at Ebay but don't really think I will get many sales on there, so I wondered if any of you kittens know where I can go to to sell them in one big swoop? Is there any where like those places you send your mobile to & they give you best price kinda thing?

I look forward to reading everyones posts now that I have caught up and I'm reading in 'real time' as it were!
