And when you think you're doing everything...thanks for the wombling tip guys, never heard or knew you could do that. I had my daughter hunting receipts the other day, it's a new game for her :rotfl: though she did bring me a few that weren't from the supermarket, just other ones people had dropped.0

Someone mentioned surveys the other day. There are a lot but the ones I find the best are my survey, ipsos, panelbase and valued opinions. Pinecone research is great as it pays out £3 a survey but they had really dried up for me. Toluna is popular but it takes forever to get to cashing out and I get screened out of surveys a lot. Let me know if anyone wants to be referred to panelbase, I think I get 20p for doing it:j ( you just have to pm me your email )
If any of you do a cash back site like topcashback or quidco then check there first as they often pay a pound just for clicking from them first before you sign up to a survey site = easy money.0 -
Morning All!
Just a quick catch up. Had an almost NSD yesterday, only spent a quid on wrapping paper. Woop. Sold 2 out of 3 items that finished on ebay today totaling £11.16. Not bad for some unwanted pressies! Had one msg me saying desperate for xmas delivery and would it get there in time... Yes I said. Have they paid yet? Have they jeff....
And to finish off this morning I've had half of my xmas pressie from my hubs, nails and eyebrowsSo lovely, his reasoning is he stresses me out through the year so like me to feel special at Christmas. Not complaining.
I have gone through the mill with the survey sites and I know it's not for all, but I find swagbucks the most lucrative so just stick with that now. Paid for the majority of the presents this year! Just need to keep the momentom going throughout the year this year as I didn't last and had a mad dash come October to amass vouchers.
Hope everyone is having a luffy day :j0 -
:xmastree:I'M BACK!!!:xmastree:
So here I sit, wrapped in blankets with a roaring fire on the go, fingers freezing - yet I press on to reply and check in on my kittens! See I am dedicated!:rotfl: I had also forgotten how cold it is the proper countryside as its drizzling, foggy and dank outside!
I am going to sit with penny-pinching mother and research some interesting supermarket scams, update my spreadsheet and perhaps create a better one from Microsoft Office selection and contemplate ways of making a living this year.
I have realised that paying back all my debt this year is do-able at about £1043 a month, however essentials like rent, phone bill and petrol etc comes to £703...which together at £1746 leave me with around £48 to live one.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Not ideal, hence money making is the top of my list. I pay all my "extra" at the beginning of the month and then live on what ever is left.. I budget this before the beginning of the month and break down what I need to do... This month I had £319 leftover as I am not paying towards my largest loan until Janiuary so unfortunately it was ALL accounted for due to train travel instead of bike and coming home etc....
So I have an NSD planned today with buckets of tea in the side! Tea over here tastes so much better it's unreal. I think it must be the same in areas outside London as our water there is very hard... at home its soft water so tastes divine.
I am watching "Super Hoarders".. with people paying lots of £££ to store all their stuff in lock-ups and along comes Aggie McKenzie from Kim and Aggie and forces them to bin it, keep it or sell it... any of you out there with lock-ups of goodies that needs raiding? Maybe attacks full of goodies that could be sold..? Kids toys from year ago fetching £300..? My Mumsy is a hoarder... gonna have a proper snoop around later when she's distracted and see what I can throw out or sell...:T
Right I need more tea...keep me posted ladies and gents.. I like hearing what you are all up to money save, debt bust etc...
Mayfair - you have done the right thing regarding the insurance. Why give these grubby companies more money by paying monthly. I increased my overdraft in November from £350 to £1000 in order to accommodate my motorbike insurance and pay it up front. I have still cleared the entire amount by the end of the year an whether you can't add any bulk sum to the bills you are not doing it for a silly reason - you are saving insurance money. And mine was about £100 cheaper than expected. Nice feeling eh..
His_Missus - is this a high interest rate? You can clear this don't worry.. have you other credit cards or is it just this one? How do you plan to tackle it??
ScattyMam- I have images of a little girl running around car parks wombling - less suspicious if she does it than you. My mum says over here they take the receipts from the tills etc and rip them up. I think they are on to us...
Not sure why there is a mention of brown paper but on one occasion for my ex-boyfriend he got presents wrapped in it with a cat stamped all over it..:rotfl:...or newspaper and string. Very chic!
Listerbelle..- How many houses?
- When you bought them?
- How much for?
- How much rent?
- And were they all paid for with a deposit or did you release equity for the next etc?
- And anything else important and exciting....
Enough nosey questions....I shall be back later!!!

Hi NinjaSavingKat,
I am one of those people who pays out shedloads for a shedload of storage...
I pay £207.50 every four weeks for a garage sized unit.
I was renting my own place for a while but my landlord stopped paying the mortgage and the house was repossessed just as I was coming to the end of my lease. It was so close that I had signed the renewal lease but hadn't dropped it into the letting agent. I had nowhere to go and debt issues and so I moved back in with my parents. As it was so sudden there wasn't time to sell anything, and I only planned to be at Mum and Dad's for 18 months, so the cost of replacing my stuff was more than the cost of storage for that period. That was three years ago, and I still have a year to go on the debt clearance (I wasn't very good at being good).
I was paying a lot less three years ago as well! Prices have jumped alot in that time. It would still be more costly for me to replace my possessions than it would cost for storage for the next year. I'm also looking at it as a nice bonus when I am living by myself again.
Had I known it would be 4 years I would have started selling stuff off a while ago, but it doesn't feel like it's worth doing now.I wanna be a saver, not a spender but first...
OD = was 1300 Now CLEARED
Cahoot CC = was 4000 Now CLEARED
Barclaycard (0%) = Was 7533 Now CLEARED
Mum's CC (0%) = Was 11500 Now CLEARED0 -
Iwanttobeasaver.. I can see why you have to do it though and the circumstances that lead to it. I have moved 9 times in ten years and the amount of stuff I had the last time I moved was unreal. I have decided to down-size all my stuff but there are some items like you say would not have made sense to get rid of. When would you think about moving now though?.. This program has people who have a storage unit for over 10 years.. one woman had spent £80,000 on hers...eek!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. I would like to ask much less practical questions.
Why did you feel motivated to start your portfolio?
How did you feel confident enough to do it?
How do you continue to motivate yourself?
Obviously, don't answer anything you don't want to.
I'm on my phone, this is really awkward to type on so I will read and reply to everyone/harass you all a bit later. X0 -
Hi Kat. My CC is quite a high interest rate. This is my only CC and my only debt left to quash. I'd like to think I can afford to pay £500 a month on it which would leave me £100 a wk on spends such as food, entertainment, clothes, pets etc. As you know, Hubby's wage pays all the bills apart from my mobile phone, pet insurance and life insurance.
The issue is that we've booked a big holiday for next year for our 40th birthdays and Hubby is focussed more on paying that (we owe £1500 still on the hol to be paid up in June - 6 paydays away) He can afford to comfortably pay £200 towards that each month and if we budget well (and I think £100 is an incredibly generous budget for 2 + 4 cats) there'll be money left over each month to make up the £50 a month extra needed for the cruise.
We've had debts (individually) for such a long time and we're not worried about red bills/meeting minimum payments/affording to live, that to him the CC isn't a priority. To me though I just want to start my forties debt free (as I was at 30!) He just hasn't quite got to the LBM yet as his loan has a few years on it, all manageable and far-ending... the end of my debt for me is so close and within reach.
Sorry, I'm wittering on a bit x0 -
iwannabe: How much space do you get? /nosey But you excited about the prospect about getting your stuff back when you're debt free!?
Scatty: I do lots in an attempt to get money, but I guess we all have different levels. I'm not sure I could cope with a second job though, sitting here I'm just playing on the computer : ) I think you also have very different priorities to me as well, I live with my mum who refuses to let me or my sister (working) to contribute to the bills versus you with your daughter (and responsibility!).
Kat: I love your taste in TV,which channel was the hoarder's programme on? I'm currently watching part of a super scrimpers christmas special. Well excited! But £50 is a little bit too strict I think. What about clothes? Presents? Having a naff day and just want to go have a take away?!
Where's Lilt? o.O' If you're reading this, I hope you're doing well.
Hismissus: Wittering is my favourite thing to readI think you are doing great, even if the smelly (sorry hubby : P ) isn't quite on the same wavelength. I'm sure you can still nudge him onto your path. : )
I got my first real payday today! I got about £400 over what I expected to get (due to tax and additional time (1 month +1 week)). Now to open an ISA. Mmm... And a pension...0
