  • Am I able to join please? A bit confused about what most people use for 'purses' - actual ones, bank accounts, etc?

Happy New Year to you all!

I don't really want to commit to joining this challenge as I am notorious for starting and not continuing however I am doing this in my own way and what a brilliant idea!

I gave myself a budget of £10 a week to put away for bargains although I stocked up on the firsts of the month and spent £39.50 (4 weeks worth of stock money). As soon as I got home I got my sharpie pen out and wrote the price I would charge myself, I am not charging the full price but I do make sure I make a profit on each item. For example I bought 3 bottles of coke zero for £3 when on offer in Mr T. They are normally £1.98 a bottle but I am charging myself £1.50 a bottle. This way I make 50p profit on each bottle yet still feel like I have a bargain as I haven't paid full price. I have just done my books and I now have £78 worth of stock and £9 in my second purse! As soon as I have more than £50 in my 2nd purse I will put any excess into my spare bank account which will go towards paying for our family holiday this year, although I need to pay for 3 new passports first as we have all just ran out or are about to run out!

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the idea and good luck to all those taking part. Keep us posted on how you are getting on.
    Just little old me!
  • I'd like to commit to this challenge but just want to make sure I've got it.
So if I start with £5 in my first purse I could of today and buy some chopped tomatoes and toilet roll as they are both on offer. Do I buy one back every time I use it to fill up my second purse? Then either move the money into a 3rd savings purse or back to purse 1 to buy mores tuck. Is that correct? Thanks in advance.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Come on girls lets get back on this, this is a call to moneysaving arms! We have been very quiet since Christmas. Come on Esther!! We need new savings goals.

Mine is going to be saving for my children's birthdays.

I need to start again. I've got about £35 in my second purse and an empty third purse but have been buying a lot of bargains but have not had enough money in my first purse to pay myself back so I am starting again this week.

Pinkie - use whatever you like, my first purse is my actual purse, my second purse is a money bag that I keep in my bag, my third purse is a piggy bank.

HappyBunny put your stock in a separate cupboard and every time you get something out use it like a shop and pay yourself back the full price into your second purse or I write it down on a piece of paper stuck to the fridge and pay myself when I can.

    Lets Go!!

Yes come on everybody its time to revitalise this thread and to encourage newbies. bargains
Not sure of totals but think there is around £25 in third purse and £50 in second purse at moment. Unfortunately have not seen any bargains that we would utilise recently except for H3inz Tomato soup in Morri$ons that was £1.68 for 4 tins (half price) I must have at least 28 tins in stock!!!!
Its a really good idea once you can get your head around it.
If anyone sees any good bargains then let us all know and post on here.

Hi, I'm bit of a lurker but I would like to give the 2nd purse a try.

I have seen offers at tesco -
    Yorkshire Tea 240 bags £4
Elvive Shampoo or Conditioner 250ml 2 for £4
    Walkers Sunbites £1 each
    Tesco baby wipes (64's) 4 for £3.40

These are just some of the items I buy so I may stockpile for the months to come!

Hi me again...Can someone help me understand how to get the second purse system.

I have read the explanation & I do get that in principle. But I need to work out what I pay back to myself. So here goes.

I put £30 in my second purse & spend all of it on special offers. Alot of them are either a reduced price or buy 2 for £3 etc.
So my stock is worth £47.00 so £17 savings.

When I come to take stock & pay it back, do I pay the full price of what it should be? For example, tea bags were £4 instead of £5.99.

Sorry to waffle but i'm a little confused!
