No Mr Grommit, if you would care to read my post again you will see that I indeed did thank Mr Agricolae. It was Mr. Buzby with whom I may have been a tad snippy.
Mr Buzby will not, I am sure, be too upset, he tells me that he has broad shoulders.
I think you should purchase a dictionary, the original post made perfect sense to me.0 -
I'm presuming you haven't read the whole thread,

Thank you - yes I had read the whole thread. My card does not start with either of those numbers, that's why I asked the questions.0 -
I eventually managed to resolve the problem I had with Tesco's pay at the pump service..
Turns out my card had been blocked by NatWest's fraud prevention team. Unfortunately for me, they don't work shifts (!) and I wasn't due to be contacted until later that day (Sunday).
I'm happy with the fraud system, just wish there was a way (mail / text) I would be notified of any such actions so I can deal with it and not look such a d**k in future!0 -

The reason the manager told you that is because he obviously has very little knowledge on how online & offline debit cards work and as the blue debit card is online then that's not down to Asda its down to the silly blue debit they give out.0 -
I agree with bugsy clearly the manager was talking complete gob sh1te. Blue debit cards will not work in pay pumps. I wish the group would do something about educating its staff.
Their is two things you can do:
* Make a complaint and get a few quid for your trouble
* Request a full authority debit card (depending on your account type)
It even says in the banks terms and conditions on page 15:

If you have a Debit card that displays the Visa Debit logo and starts with the numbers 4751 27 or 4751 28, you will only be able to use your card at a retailer or supplier of services where they can authorise the transaction with us at the time of the transaction being made. If this is not possible the transaction will be declined.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Why responding to a post back in November?
Plus that's the number for telephone banking.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Not quite correct as ALL upt's (unmanned payment terminals) have a zero floor limit and as such have to seek authorisation.
The issue is that they do not authorise for the full amount. Only a small amount to test that it is a live card.
As such, as you point out certain cards cannot be used. Due to requiring the full amount to be processed when a auth is requested.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
