T-mobile have changed carrier and now signal is rubbish!
Options
Hi all
My boyfriend is a customer of T-mobile, and has been for a number of years ago.
A couple of days ago he noticed that he was having signal issues. Shortly afterwards he received a text message stating that T-mobile have changed signal carriers, to Ee.
He now no longer has sufficient signal to make calls at work - it cuts out after a few seconds. His signal at home is also now very poor.
Has he got the right to terminate his contract early? It ends September 2013. His phone is now useless for making calls. I know he could text, but if he is paying £51 a month for his contract (I told him not to do it, but he wanted the back then new iPhone 4S ) he should be able to do something basic such as call somebody.
Kind regards

EE = Orange + T-mobile0

Literally the EE update was just a sim update and it changed the name on the network name on the sim card, it wouldn't affect signal, its purely concinidental? Has he called T-Mobile?0
-
All the update does is change the carrier name on the device - it's still the same transmitters and infrastructure.0
-
Even though they have also changed bandwidth?
Sorry to keep coming back with the question I'm just struggling to believe that all they have done have changed the name. Hes gone from having a full signal in our flat, to almost none, and it happened the same day they announced the change in carrier.
Does anyone know the customer service number for T-Mobile for calling from a land line? He will not be able to ring from his phone...Baby Mazza due New Years Day 2013!0 -
Just a thought!........... is it possible they are testing 4G services in your area?........which your handset will not support?

Try manually selecting EE (3G) as the network.0

It's not a network change, just amalgamating the two operations, but one of the supposed advantages to the provider is that they might remove some sites.
So perhaps they've started that process and misjudged what to remove, but perhaps more likely it could be just a temporary outage in your area.0 -

There was no change of bandwidth, the 2 networks have been merged since 2010/2011. All that has happened in the 2 names the phone could show (orange or t-mobile) were changed to 1 (EE).
If the network merge was going to affect him it would have done so a year or more ago, it's more like a cell base station fault or handset fault, either could have coincidently happened around the time of the name change.
Why does he need a landline number, he could just walk out the front or back door, or phone when he is out from the phone.Just a thought!........... is it possible they are testing 4G services in your area?........which your handset will not support?
That it isn't possible, the EE 4G network is completely separate from the t-mob/orange EE network.
When it goes live you will need a new sim to access it.====0
