I know I'm better off on my own, although I've had serious health issuses this year and an operation to remove a large tumour.I still feel better knowing I can cope with things.I have a life,go out and enjoy myself.I also owe about 1,000 pounds now, owed 16,000 five years ago.My debts will be paid by march 2013,would have been quicker but illness held that back. But i'm still SAD and proud and although I do go on dates I don't think I'll ever want a man in my life 24/7 ever again.I think I'm just commitment phobic.lol

  • Hi everyone, please can I join too??

I am very newly single (2 days) have decided that my debts are my priority for at least the next 6 months.

I accumulated about £10k of debts when I was single a few years back. Most of it was a new car (the old one died), a new horse (the old one died) and a dog for my daughter. These things made me happy at the time and I wouldn't be without but .... but the debt needs to go!

I split from a partner I lived with a year ago. While he lived with me I was paying off debts at a great speed, then when he left I ended up only being able to pay off the minimum amounts. Last February I got back with my first proper boyfriend from 13 years ago and really wanted to make it work. It was a long distance relationship and cost a fortune in train tickets (£1400 in 8 months!). I'm now £500 more in debt than when we met. So although I feel heart broken, I'm excited to watch the debts start going down!

This thread is so helpful .. so good to know that other people are in the same boat.
I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be
