 to the flood warning - I'd be panicking (note to self: must re-visit the Rising Household Emergency Plan)

I must admit i went into "mum" mode a bit so was very busy bossing people around and checking everyone was ok:D. I feel a bit drained today though, just glad it was wrong, the alternative does not bear thinking about!

Looking forward to some drier weather later in the week so i don't have to worry for a while!

I am in the process of running the freezer down so that i can stock up on some Christmas goodies. Trouble is i can't resist a "yellow sticker" when i see one so the freezer doesn't go down very quickly!

Stay safe everyone, and my thoughts and hugs are with anyone who has actually been affected by the floods.

We have one more night of good weather then we are onto storms, high winds and torrential rains for the next five days here in Greece. Battening down the hatches ready for it. Off to empty our water tank before it comes down as last time it started flooding the living room as it could not cope with the amount of water. Luckily we have tiles downstairs that can be easily cleaned! It has turned quite cold out, four degrees tonight.

We were given notice from the environment agency last night that we were due to flood, the advice was to move possesions and protect property etc. So we moved the low lying electricals, made sure elderly neighbours were ok etc etc.

Went to bed not expecting to sleep, ready to jump out of bed and grab more stuff, waiting for our flood sirens to sound, phones rang again......flood agency to say we were not on flood warning anymore, when we checked on the web site it turned out our warning was made in error!

Still had a sleepless night as by that point we were all pumped up in adrenaline, but i'd rather they were over cautious. Might leave stuff packed away for a couple of days just incase!

    Hi Bubbs,

I'm in Far Cotton, we would be in one of the first streets to flood if there was a severe flood, and were affected in the '98 floods.

I feel for you having ot move out, i've been watching about the evacuations etc on the local news. Good news is that the river levels this end of town have dropped considerably so should happen your way too before long. Have the vans been breached?

you are a braver soul than i am, i keep contemplating hanging some out on the line but it's been surprisingly still so without our usual windiness they'll just freeze into clothing shaped icicles at night :rotfl:

i've come up with a new trick for drying clothing faster, we have a hall heater and it's in a part of the hall that isn't used much, the airer fits nicely in that spot and since it's narrow it's a bit like a funnel for warm air so my clothes are drying much faster there than in the front room where i normally put them, plus i now don't have to look at laundry whilst i watch telly before bed, BONUS!
