Oh my! I've never been on this thread before
though I recognise many of the posters  but had to write my thanks for the bedroom slippers made of squares - thats a brilliant pattern :j
Does anybody attach a sole or anything like that? Or glue them to a bought insole, and use the insole as an, erm, out-sole?
PS - subscribed now. I was originally following mar and kittie2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Brr, winter has definitely arrived here (rural west midlands-ish) - there was an icicle hanging off our bedroom window this morning! (We have the window open whatever the weather, can't bear a stuffy bedroom and would rather put loads more bedding on ...) I did buy myself some new very soft and fluffy socks to use as bedsocks from Primarni last week, plus some of their cosy tights, as they were a godsend last winter. They do shrink though - if anyone is considering getting some, get them in a larger size than usual.0

Freezing in North Wales tonight-well I don't think it literally is, but it feels much colder with clear skies.
Good weather to kill bugs I hope, as everyone around me seems to be coughing & spluttering!:j0 -

It's been really freezing the past 2 mornings in Suffolk though lovely clear days even with the frost, & my stupid asthma chest has felt much better than last week when it was wet & cold.
I've just got back from taking DS2 to Scouts & popping to MrM in search of de-icer for the car (located some in the garage there as the store had empty spaces for it instead), & the house is so cosy with the curtains over the doors & fleece hung behind the living room blind! I had to take my fleece jacket of as well add my coat, so only have my t shirt & jumper on (plus slippers & trousers ;-) ).0 -
Normally poo poo de-icer in favour for my own free labour of scraping the window but time isn't on my side on a morning so I have ordered some to come with the shopping.
As of tonight we're sat with a fleece blanket cellotaped to the window of the front door (opens straight onto the living room) we will look at getting a curtain but this is working just fine for now.
We're playing with heating/ventilation until we can get things right for the needs of the house.
kittie everywhere I turned today people were warning me of a very bad drop in temperature next week. Thanks for the very early warning.0 -

squiggles, I am staying and contributing, only not about weather
we could smell smoke today and think the flue is leaking after getting manhandled when serviced. Doh, could do without that now, even though they are coming tomorrow.
6 kg of that milk powder came today, I have a cool place to store but we will be through that by winter`s end. I made white sauce with the wholemilk version and it was good, no different to bought liquid milk. I also make hempseed milk and almond milk, which generally goes on breakfast oatmeal or muesli0 -
Mmm, Monday was actually the first time I've ever had to deal with my own icy car rather than be busy while someone else did it :-D I had several heavy bags to take to work or I'd have walked instead like I did this morning ;-) So it took me about 15 minutes to scrape it, which is free exercise as well as defrosting, but I thought having something to speed it up would be a good idea.
I tuck a fleece blanket over the net curtain wire then pull the blind over it in the living room.0
