I'm in the North West, today is absolutely beautiful.
I have windows open, just have a light thin jumper on, the sun is so low & bright in bedrooms that I almost felt like putting sunglasses on when I was tidying upstairs.
One lot of washing dried, another is out there now, and hopefully dry before it dampens down.
I know it's the "calm before the storm" and I am ready, but can't believe this weather now-for mid November.
I have a skinny cupboard in the kitchen where I keep herbs & spices etc. Decided to pull everything out this morning, clean, check and put everything back in an easily findable order........do you realise how many spices a girl can have starting with the letter "C", I have 11 containers/jars/packets/ used coffee jars!!!!!
Sad I know, but I know now I have enough H&S to feed an army!!!

I just had to come back on, I have been using some spices this morning and want to tell you how I sorted my herbs and spices
Everything I have is only in one kitchen drawer. I got fed up of never finding my spices. I measured the inside of the drawer and ordered a lot of round flat screw top tins. I have 40 medium size in the drawer in two layers and I have 18 small tins in 1 row of 3 layers, down the side I have bottles of essences and colourings. The tins were from ebay like

I did the sums and made sure that they would all fit in. I have a garden labeller and used red, yellow, white and green labels on the lids, White for the likes of baking powder. This was over 2 years ago and to this day I would do the same again, I was always rooting in the back of low cupboards for small packets and jars, now I just stand and pick out the tin that I want
Dull weather down here today, soup and hot food weather with a bit of faffing here and there, nothing too strenuous on a day like this. Two candles lit to lighten the gloom0 -

Brilliant idea Kittie. I have a cupboard full of these little bottles and guarenteed the one I want will be at the back, requiring all the others to be pulled out 1st!
Popped to one bargains to pick up another 18 pack of loo roll, you can never have enough! Also got jars of ready chopped garlic, ginger and chilli, 59p each! Really handy to have to to help create a tasty dish out of not a lot. I find we use so much garlic it is so much cheaper buying it this way & as a contact lens wearer the thought of chopping fresh chilli & then taking out a lens....Argh! To scary!
Going to top up the bird feeder now & send hubby to the grit bin to get a bit for our steps, just incase. As I'm pregnant I'm super worried about falling and one year the steps were covered in black ice, didn't have a clue till I stood on one & nearly went flying. All the leaves outside have been swept up (again, a bit of an endless task around here) and going to make sure the snow shovel and my long sweeper for the car are both close to hand. Just knowing where all these things are make me feel much more organised if we do end up needing them.
Much colder here today, report of a possible frost overnight so I think I'll pop the windscreen cover on just incase, nothing worse than having to scrape the car in the morning when I will, no doubt, already be running late! Throw blankets are over the backs of the sofas to snuggle under in the evenings and the candle stash has been located, more in there than I thought which is always nice but I think I'll try & pick up a few more church type candles this week to add to the basket.0 -
Regarding the herbs and spices, I have plastic coated metal racks just the right size for herbs and they are drilled into the door of the larder unit of the fitted kitchen. They are perfect and I made a point of bringing them from the last house in case I couldn't source any more. My daughter has a newer posher kitchen and they have a double drawer unit for pots and pans, mixing bowls etc. Right at the very top of this there is a very shallow drawer where all the herb jars can be on their side in neat rows and you can instantly see where everything is. Kitchen designers should give as much thought to these small items as they do to idiot wine racks!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I've got 2 plastic baskets in the cupboard with my herbs & spices in - I use a t1ppex pen to write the names of the herb/spice on top of the jar.
DS1 has put up the other curtain rail in the hall so I've put a blue velvet curtain over the door into the living room as the cat finds closed curtains acceptable (but not doors), & I redid the bubble wrap strips around the front door last weekend for a very annoying reduction in drafts - annoying as the housing association has actually put draft proof stripping in all the doors & windows, but the front door still is draft. Though no more thanks to the power of bubble wrap!
Been cold & wet here all day in Suffolk with rain, rain, & more rain.0 -

It was raining non-stop for around 4 hours this morning, finally tailed off this afternoon.
BUT I could still go out and get some bread and maintain my dry feet thanks to this threadI simply popped my wellies on and went for a splash.
Housemate has decided he wants to defrost the freezer next weekend and suggested I eat up my share of the contents during the week, I don't think he realises they're supposed to last me until January O.o0
