Kittie - your house sounds fantastic! We will have to have external insulation as no cavity walls. Another savings pot to set up:(
Thanks for the links - never heard of the Maunder minimum before.

Revolving door - seen similar pretend candles in the big DIY stores but don't know whether they are any good.

Mar -I think we need a good frost as well, it kills off lurgies, pests and germs.

LR - please could you just agree to disagree, I have no agenda either way, but we are here to help each other. I can tell you feel very strongly about it but maybe best left now, please x
Not dim ;) .....just living in soft focus :p

  • The idea that thousands of scientists and dozens of world leaders are conspiring together to pull the wool over our eyes regarding climate change doesn’t make any sense to me. What would they have to gain? In fact world leaders have much to lose, as we need to cut our fossil fuel consumption (something the US will not want to do).

Then again there are people who believe it was the US government that blew up the World Trade Center....

I think it says a lot that the papers that pick up on the Piers Corbyn type weather predictions are the tabloids.

Kittie: you say he always gives a percentage chance of the events happening...well he would, wouldn't he...that way he is always right and never wrong. For example, there is a 60% chance August will be the hottest on record, and when it isn't he can say well I said there was a 40% chance this would not happen!!

I'll stick to the met office and listen to eminent scientists who know the science behind climate change.

I also would like a bit of snow this year as I feel I'm more prepared than I was in 2010.:A

I want to buy some boots that I can wear inside but also run out to the recycling bins if I want to so I am going to look online for some today. They need to have a proper sole and not be like slippers if you see what I mean.

I want to buy the LED Phillips candles that someone mentioned too. I can't remember where I read it as this forum seems confusing at times.:p

    Hi

My "slippers" are the cheap ugg-type boots you can get in primark for about £6 (or they were last year!). I like them with a proper sole too, we have hard flooring downstairs, and these are nice and cosy. I wouldn't wear them out, they do look a bit naff, but for going to the bins etc they're just fine!
