  • Just to get an idea of extreme, was the winter of 2010 classes as a mini ice age? Or was that just snowmegeden?

No idea but I had to take my toddler to nursery on the sledge while carrying his baby sister in a sling... The snow broke my pushchair...

Glad I was on mat leave tbh

  • Blimey, 2010 seemed like a never ending winter. How on earth do we prep for a mini ice age?! Heating I'm sure would be the biggest issue, especially if electric is out. We have large food socks in the freezers & store cupboard.

May be time to go back through the thread to see if there is anything I have missed over the years.

As always, thank you kittie for the nod & wink!

Alice-Mary, the winter of 2010 was just like the winters of my childhood. Up here we had four and a half feet of snow and it lay on the ground for 5 weeks. The coldest we've had here was -19C. I remember many winters like that in the 50s and 60s.
I think personally a bad winter keeps down midges/rats/bugs/germs and I don't mind that at all. It's mild winters of constant rain and mist and murk that get me down. nice bright sunny days with blue skies are lovely :)
  • I also would like a bit of snow this year as I feel I'm more prepared than I was in 2010.:A

I want to buy some boots that I can wear inside but also run out to the recycling bins if I want to so I am going to look online for some today. They need to have a proper sole and not be like slippers if you see what I mean.

I want to buy the LED Phillips candles that someone mentioned too. I can't remember where I read it as this forum seems confusing at times.:p
  • Well we are all entitled to believe what we like. BUT

PC has no qualifications related to climate change..sorry but a degree/MSc in Physics does not count and why does he call himself doctor? Does he have a doctorate..??? He's a fake who makes money from scare mongering about something he is not an expert in.
