Can I ask where you all buy wool duvets? and if they have wool pillows as well? I want some. :)

    Morning Mardatha
I ordered mine online from JLewis . They also do pillows and mattress toppers as well. When I got mine out of the box, [summer weight 4-7 tog ] thought that it looked thin but it's warm and light in weight. There are different togs for the seasons.Washable on a wool cycle and no dust mites.
    Hope that helps,

  • MAR I've got a wool duvet and so has DD1 she also has a cellular blanket and lambswool pillow from them too. Its from a company called WHITE CLOUD and they're based at Newent in Gloucestershire. I can give them a hearty reccommendation as the products are super quality and very comfortable to use. They are relatively expensive but I think they are well worth saving up for as they really work.

    Afternoon all,
I have updated my utility meter readings and am not in as much credit as I would like to be so have arranged to slightly increase direct debit to allow us to comfortably afford to use the heating this year.

I've has a massive clearout and did a carboot- I can't believe how much stuff I had that I didn't need! I still have enough to do one more so will be doing another this weekend (weather permitting).

Next job is to sort summer clothes out and box what I don't need and get out/ sort autumn/ wash winter clothes.
Have also cleaned and aired all my winter cosy blankets and cushions.

    Happy prepping xxx

    RE woollen duvets

Kittie got hers from the wool room. I'm interested in the bed set as it is on offer at the moment and seems good value.

Ive now sorted out the kids wardrobes of anything that does not fit, today i bought all the kids shoes for school they now have everything they need for their return and iv'e labelled everything too.

I've ordered my freezer (saving complete) i got it on sale with cashback so thats a £40 saving for me with free delivery and it arrives tomorrow.

I've phoned the boiler man who is coming either this week or next to fix my boiler (It died in January along with the car and the kettle).

I'd like to finish the decorating before winter strikes and it becomes hard to get the paint to dry. (hall stairs and landing) This is my september challenge i think.

I've washed all the blankets ready for the beds and bought a cat bed, out cat likes to stay in in winter (who can blame him).

I also added draught proofing everywhere, fleece door curtains and kept doors closed internally with windows pen for an hour or so each day to ward off damp spots.. Old house likes to develop mouldy corners!![/QUOTE]

Pigpen where did you get your fleece door curtain from I could do with one in my hall to block off the freezing porch.

yes thewoolroom all seasons duvet set is fantastic and is fully washable. I love the way the 2 duvets hold together in mid winter. They are beautifully made and in all honesty, I would get no other make. I am more than happy with them. Best time to get anything for winter is now, before autumn strikes hard and looking at the allotment this morning, the plants think that autumn is around the corner

The jet stream is what is governing our weather and the pattern now will be in place for 10s of years to come. ie very wild swings. Parts of america are already very cold as a jetstream loop drags down the freezing air into that country. We will also at times, get the freezing air and suddenly too as the jetstream loops below uk, then next minute the jetstream will be above the uk and will drag in warm wet air. This is the winter pattern. This will be accompanied by periods of warm, torrential rain or freezing blizzards. The mild will bring energy cost relief for many but also risk of floods. It is a simplistic pattern of course as we have to add in pressure areas etc

DS has just put a new cover over the BBQ and tied it on. Last year the BBQ blew over despite being in a sheltered spot down the side of the garage.

We now have a good supply of cleaning stuff both household and personal. There are six of us so we go through a lot of shower gel, shampoo, toilet roll so keeping us well stocked is ongoing.

I need to get the boys gloves. They are older teenagers who " don't do gloves" until they get roped in to shovelling snow or snowballing and then DH's mysteriously disappear. So I'm just going to get some and put them in the winter basket. This is where the hats, gloves, scarves are kept during the winter months, in the hallway. I usually get them from tkmaxx but they didn't have any in today.

I managed to get some crystals to go in the moisture traps. As soon as it starts to feel cold and damp they will be put in place.

    It's certainly cooler today.

    Done it!

I've ordered the bed set from the wool room. I can't wait for it to arrive. Save 30% and free p&p if anyone is interested.
