Preparing for winter IV

Silly, fantastic re the elderberry syrup. I will make some too, I bought sambucol last year and it costs a lot. Elderberries are just coming ripe now. There are some recipes on line and I found one that I like http://www.realfoodrn.com/homemade-elderberry-syrup/
I have everything else so will send dh out to get elderberries, I should think that I can just freeze them for later anyway. I will be using normal runny honey as raw honey costs loads and is hard to source
Polly I bought the whole set from woolroom and the mattress cover is brilliant, warm in winter and cool in summer
Flipping heck todays weather has taken a nosedive. I feel like putting a woolie on. Tomorrow I am going to gently start my allotment winter clearing, I have raised beds so it`s easy. Any free bed will, from now on, be covered in weed fabric. I need space for garlic and shallots and that is all from now, I did plant out some little gems yesterday and that is the very last of my veg plantings0 -

I've started checking through things and sorting out my cupboards. I've gone through my scarves (unfortunately I can't wear wool or acrylic next to my skin as it brings me out in a rash) and have realised my fleece scarves are worn through so will buy a new one. I have lots of viscose scarves/shawls which I use throughout colder months as extra layers when at work and home.
I've got a week off work so I'm going to sort out the freezers (defrosting one which is chocked up with ice) and making a new inventory of supplies.
I'm going to have to wait and see how heating bills are this year as I have new housemates who moved in during Spring so we shall see how they are with the heating but I want to make sure I have adequate clothing and food to keep me warm.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650 -

Hi I want to buy mens thermal socks I bought some cheap ones last year but they were really thick I suppose they would have been okay for boots but I only wear shoes and they were a very tight fit so this summer while doing a clear out I sent them to a charity shop so could anyone recommend thermal socks suitable to wear in shoes. COMBI BOILER
I live in a well insulated one bedroom upstairs flat and I had a combi boiler installed towards the end of last winter to run my central heating so I didn’t have time to work out the most economical way to use it.
According to age concern the optimum temperature for someone of my age is 21c in the living room and at least 18c in the bedroom I noticed last winter that once it reached 21c it then switched off and it held the heat for hours then once the temperature dropped the combi kicked in again so my question is which is the most economical way to use a Combi. Morning
I just have a snow shovel (fold up, bought from HB last year) a blanket, usually used to cover the car seats after DS football matches, and cardboard to put under the tyres if I get stuck.
I can walk to work if need be, or leave my car at work if the weather turns.
I do keep a close eye on the forecast over the winter and have suitable clothing in the car.
I'm sure someone will have a more comprehensive list, mine suits my situation.
