Went over this morning to tell the neighbours' behind that their dodgy fence panel was down and discovered that a neighbour who is away had two panels that were damaged. So my dad and I, with another neighbour managed to get them secured so they should be OK when the next lot of wind comes along. Interestingly I discovered that none of the neighbours appear to be in the slightest bit practical, so it's lucky my dad was around (otherwise I'd have had to work it all out...).

Someone has lost a slate, but we haven't worked out yet whether it is me, the neighbour behind, or the one next door. The slate is intact and in my garage. Overall, very little damage, but lots of flickering lights all day (even the oven and the hoover flickered at one point!).

The wind has arrived with a vengeance.
Much, much worse than before Christmas, went to bed to read about 9.45pm, can't concentrate on the book for the howling gale outside.
Thank I'll have to stay up now 'till I'm so tired that I fall asleep, but not sure if that will happen feels & sounds like my windows are going to cave in at any moment.
Doesn't help living on top of a hill, on the North West coast 5 mins walk from the sea, with a window that is far too big in our bedroom.
Least we don't have any big trees near our house.
Hope next door doesn't suffer any damage, I'm in charge of their place whilst they are staying with daughter for Xmas.

Keep safe everyone, and hope there is not too much damage tomorrow.

Here in London we have just started getting very strong blasts of wind going up the street, but its all calm in between. Waiting to see what tomorrow brings but I hope it isn't too bad - we certainly don't need more rain!

It's really windy here tonight (north), and raining. I'm stuck at work and worried about my roof as had a leak a while ago. This was fixed...but you never know.

    Fingers crossed no further problems.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

No problems here, but am preparing for winter anyway. Making sure I have plenty of food for a lock in. Only really need some milk for the next week.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

    OMG
What a night, hardly any sleep.
We don't think there is an damage to house or shed, storm -with no rain- is still raging like crazy.

Don't think I've ever experienced winds this high so such a pronged period.

Same here, very scary. Whole house was rattling and shaking. Was just saying to my OH how like a hurricane it was ( been in one in Florida...all kinds of not good)

A plane with it's engine really screaming passed quite low over us too, not good for the nerves!

Still blowy but a lot lot calmer than last night thankfully.
  • Woohoo it's windy!! Which means I've got two loads of washing out! Haha

    I love my storm/hurricane pegs!!

My god you're lucky lol - torrential rain here and has never let up, apart for being torrential snow and whiteout during the night :) Wind driving me mad, think I've got cabin fever...
