Gales & driving rain here.
22 year old DD woke with no voice (it is a good thing!) so she's managed to make a doctors appointment this morning, as she works on a cancer ward and can't go in with infection.
Asked her to get fresh bread while she's out-although she is very, very, very ill, she's getting me some!!!!
I'm not venturing out there today, other than the bins, if I still have any later.
Everyone stay safe.

very bad here now re the wind and that is supposed to be less problematic than the forthcoming rain. We are getting negative pressure at the top of one outward opening french door, you just hear the shhh as it goes back in. Times like this I could be doing with living in a hobbit house tucked into a hillside.
Oh the gusts are so frightening just now but we are destined to go down another 50-60 pa in pressure so this could be catastrophic for many.0 -
It's really windy here, the windows are double glazed but the curtains are still moving around.
My DH tried to open the garden door and thought it was stuck but it was the wind pushing against it.
I was thinking of going out to get a few extra bits for Christmas day but **** that in this weather.:pHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

parts of cornwall without power, so it nudged me to fill a couple of flasks just in case. I asked dh to fill them and he said `are you expecting a power cut` honest he was serious, talk about one job at a time males, he got huffy when I disturbed what he was doing to ask him to put two lanterns onto charge and in the meantime I was cooking lunch and doing all sorts at once. The world would stop without women
I hear that town centres are gridlocked, you got to laugh0 -
Bit worried about my freezer, the power went off for only and hour and a half, and the freezer was reading -6  I had it set to -25!
Does anybody know anything about how the temp sensor works on American f/freezers? Surely it shouldn't get as warm as that so soon. last we had a powercut it did the same thing. Might need to get a jenny and I hate them.0 -
Here, it's currently very dull, very wet and getting windier.
The rain is set for the rest of the day and into the night, but the winds are forecast to really pick up this evening and into the nightEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Well the wind is calmer but by no means calm, we had severe sheet rain at about 1pm it was horrendous being out in the car and driving down the steep hill into town, the flood defences are being pushed to their limit, I can feel it!! I have done all washing as little sprout had sickness and poopy doops for 24 hrs so have bleached all and washed everything heating been on full pelt, not sure whats hotter radiators or washing machine. Had one of our new rescue hens go awol yesterday... couldn't of picked a worse time and we still haven't found her... can only hope it was quick if she didn't make it
Mardatha I have had my xmas fix and been looking at the scottish weather cams, we're all a bit bah humbug here with all this water and wind so having to resort to webcams to watch the snow... I must say Camera 1905 - A9 Drumochter North is looking very impressive, I hope you have power and a I am picturing you snuggling by a window, cuppa in hand and watching the snow... hoping you are not freezing sitting in the pitch black and wishing the snow gone:eek:

It is calmer here now but almost dark, I have been spinning, making lovely mushroom soup and am watching jane eyre. We will be watching magdalene sisters (film) this evening, after tea. Quite nice to have a couple of good films to watch, it takes the mind off weather
The wind is causing some down draughts in the stove and I can smell a little smoke, it is warm enough tbh so I`ll be turning it off soon. I did heat the full tank via the immersion today, I figure that if the tank is hot then it will keep the house core warm if there is a power cut. I don`t know what to expect tonight tbh0 -
Blustery now in west yorks, been still most of day but wet. We are in, and no need to go anywhere until Thursday :T
Keep safe, everyone!Bossymoo
