Noticed our back garden fence was at an angle this morning just before work and no time to do anything about it. Now 2 panels have come off, well the wind needs somewhere to go through .
daft question but can i claim on my house insurance to. Get it fixed, is it worth a Claim?today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Absolute howler outside here toozie, and rain battering hell out of my windows. Not a night to be out in!
Same here in Yorkshire. Don't envy the "mad Friday" nutters out in town. I'm on the sofa in my dressing gown, TV on, cuppa by my side, littlies asleep. Time to hibernate.Bossymoo

Not sure, is it classed "As an act of God"?
Well, actually probably not as flooding is also due to weather conditions.
I suppose you could, but maybe they are repairable? I haven't had to make a claim for years, there is a question now when I shop around each year for new home insurance....How you made a claim in the last 5 years....or something like that? Would your premium go up much if you had to say yes to that question, when quoting for insurance?
I'm sure these companies are now linked, so you couldn't say no.
This wind is awful, take care.:j0 -

Most buildings insurance policies exclude storm damage to fences and gates, have a look at your policy wording. There would probably be an excess to pay (ie the insurance doesn't cover the first £100, for example, of the repair costs) even if your policy does not exclude it.0 -
anyone else awake, those darn winds woke me and I am wide awake. I hate the wind and the loud gusts, no point in me tossing and turning in bed keeping dh awake, think I`ll make a small chamomile tea.
Yes re above, storm damage to fences isn`t covered and that reminds me re house insurance in general. So important to have the right kind of cover eg we have a timber frame eco house and are the only one in our group of houses to have specialist insurance, rather than the bog standard one. Well enough most times for people but they will poke and delve if a claim is made and will turn a claim down if under insured, One person I know elsewhere has water ingress due to the torrential rain and I know this is down to lack of maintenance, she is going to claim but this claim will affect her future premiums and she won`t get it anyway. Our policy cost £450 for building and contents but we actually doubled our contents cover after we went through room by room, I hate paying insurance but a necessary evil partic with all the extreme weather we are getting now0 -
It's pitch dark here and pelting heavy rain, been raining since I went to bed. So dark I can hardly see across the livingroom. Still windy but nothing major. And look at this for xmas -

It's very dark and gloomy here and I can't have the window open as it's blowy outside and the dog keeps getting startled when things are crashing around outside.:(HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Thanks - wil fix the foil tomorrow, our wall is stone so we thinking how to attach the cardboard now. Kittie I think I want one for my lamp, the days seem very long and miserable now and I worry about me lol.
i made mine to hang over the brackets as well, i still tacked them to the wall because the came away from it a bit but if you make your cardboard long enough for the entire width of the radiator then cut a wide slit most of the way up to accomodate the bracket (you'll likely have to fiddle with it a bit) then you could probably get away with let most of it sit on the brackets then use blu tak to get it to stick to the stone if you see what i mean0 -
Have cut cardboard, stuck foil on with sellotape, and hung over the brackets. Perfect, thanks MSErs
