I have a couple of questions winterites..
When you put alcan foil behind the radiators - how do you attach it to the wall?
And is there any one place that's good for thermal curtains or liners?
    Ty in advance :D

I love my biobulbs. Only problem is that because they are full-spectrum light I don't notice they're on, so frequently forget to switch them off when I leave the room, which isn't a problem with normal bulbs. They're also much nicer to wake up to, even though they are bright.

:rotfl: I do this too! Plus my neighbour asked me if I had a sunbed as the light was so bright!
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Curtain pole installed in the living room
    Paint curtain pole
Window quilts for landing window & french door
Add shrink film to the kitchen door & insulate
    Insulate front door
Bubble wrap windows & french door
    Wash front door curtain
    Blind for the bathroom
Find wrist warmers & the wool socks!
    Wash heated throws
    Wash duvet & wool blankets
Buy vest tops to go under clothes and PJs
Buy nets for bathroom and kitchen
Buy or make blind for kitchen

If you are using regular kitchen foil, you can attach it to some card then slot it behind, a bit of blu tak will hold it to the wall. I was given some radflek stuff, which was thicker foil sheets, to cut to size, they came with some clips, a bit like those binding things to hold papers together. These held the folded top of the foil, and rested on the radiator brackets, with the foil hanging down between the brackets.

ETA they're called slide binders apparently <shrugs>

i used thumb tacks, if you're using thick cardboard the blu tack is probably a better bet but i only had thumbtacks at the time

yes to both mar, they are low energy and I have them in small table lamps as well hanging in the ceiling. It`s a lovely white light that doesn`t flicker and you can see properly to read. I have them in bedside lamps too and in a standard lamp. They last forever btw, I have never had one die on me

More storm force winds here and driving rain.

The wind sounds like gale force, house is really cosy as DH was working at home and couldn't stand the cold at 3pm and put heating on! So when I got home at 5.30 it was lovely & warm.

Lucky we have no large old tree's around us, next doors wheelie bin was in the middle of the estate road. Cat looked at me as though I was on another planet when I opened the door to let her out!! She turned her back on me & the door and lay down in middle of kitchen!

I live near the sea, and I could see loads of ships had come into shelter in the bay where they usually do in these conditions, sometimes en-route to Liverpool.

Snacks for tea, as we had a Christmas buffet at work and I am stuffed.

Want to get some recycling out, but not sure if I want to venture past the back door, all recycling boxes & bins are weighed down with bricks.

I am quite happy now as I don't have the 20 miles journey to work until the 2nd Jan. All my shopping is in, apart from picking up turkey crown locally on Monday.
Just need to catch up with housework as it's been busy at work and I've done nothing at home.

If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'd like to get about 4 loads of washing done. Trouble is if it's this windy it'll end up in the Isle of Man!!
I'll have to resort to the indoor line.

Is it blowing a hoolie anywhere else?

Off to get in my PJ's now!
