I do that. I buy black PJ bottoms so if I have to go outside to the recycling it looks more like tracksuit bottoms than nightwear.:D[/QUOTE]

Great idea, never thought of that!
Although I have an alleyway between the houses, so it's only if someone is driving past at the actual time.
I usually run out as fast as possible and run back in!

Very windy here today, green bin (garden rubbish) which is empty is on it's side 1/2 way down alley!

I remember that when I walked to school when I was a kid it always seemed to be bright and frosty in winter but it seems like we have less of those mornings nowadays or maybe I'm just remembering wrongly.

I remember the same but think its more the January/February times that were bright and frosty. I can't wait, we've not had a proper frost here yet, it really clears the air.

We had a new boiler installed in March with a couple of new rads, it's so much more efficient than the old one (well it was 32 years old) and I'm finding an hour and a half in the morning is sufficient most days (thermostat set to 18 degrees). Sometimes by 5pm its getting really chilly but then the oven goes on for dinner and we're snug again. DDs are being sensible with onsies and decent slippers and we purchased them an electric blanket each so when they get super chilly they get into bed. The upstairs is always cooler than the downstairs but they don't always want to come sit with us.....as teenagers I can't blame them.

I'm all set for Christmas, just the veg to get nearer the time and I'm off to Brugges Christmas market next week for my 2nd hit of festivities (went to winter wonderland in Hyde park last week)

Sorry Fruball didn't see your post. She came home Sat night witha suitcase full of pills and went to her bed with a HWB, stayed there until yesterday and is now on the couch in a onsie :) Was renal colic with kidney stones plus a bad urine infection. She's still in a lot of pain and totally wiped out but I think better home than stuck in that hospital.
Is so mild that on the Scottish weather forums they're saying its 4C warmer at night up north than the ave temp in July LOL

I can guarantee that if I put my PJs on early somebody will come to the door-last time it was the parish priest.
  • We've had fog for the last few days, but once it lifts the air is still so damp! Finding it so hard to get the washing (drying) done!

I love getting into my Pj's after dinner. Get the slippers on and a fluffy jumper and i'm set for the rest of the evening!

I take it you don't have a tumble dryer, can you take it to the launderete to dry it? Might be worth doing occasionally with the big stuff to stop it building up.

I'm coping ok with washing by double spinning everything (it's amazing how much comes out on the 2nd spin) and then spreading thinly onto airers/backs of chairs/banisters. Don't overload your airer is key. If I have lots then I'll hang shirts and jumpers on hangers and pop on door frames or curtain poles, they dry well within a few hours. I've always got a couple of windows on night time catches so air can move through the house.

Blowing a gale here, and pouring with rain-which is actually horizontal.

Weighed the bins down with bricks on the lids.
Cat WILL NOT go out to save her life!

Had a job to hold the car door & get out at lunch time. Been home since and battened down all hatches. Heating has just come on-on timer.
Christmas lights in every room........very cosy.

Chicken curry, rice and nann for tea. Curry with a sad wrinkled apple, red & green paper past sell by, and some mushrooms that need eating, and the chicken fillets I managed to pick up reduced to 88p!

Also have Lemon Curd in the slow cooker.
Recipe I found on here last night, first time making it, I had lemons to use so I thought a few jars would be nice for Xmas.

Whole house cleaned & tidy, feeling quite pleased with myself!

I think there is movement in the double glazed window in the lounge-it's quite big, the wind in horrendous.

    keep safe...

  • We had our walls insulated, new double glazing units put in all the windows as most of them had blown and the attic insulation beefed up in the late summer. We have just had our first winter bill. Gas was £72 for the central heating, this week its been rather cold so I have had it on most days set at 19c...just now we are using about 1 unit a day.

The electric has not altered a great deal.

I am having to dry washing inside, we no longer have a tumble dryer, it usually dries overnight, but I am wary of condensation.

So far I am happy with the level of heating in the house, the rest of the winter to come.

Just asked santa for some new pj's. But requested some mens cos the ladies pj's seem to stop above my ankles lol .

I have this problem too and struggle to get longer length. I'm 5ft 9 but recently bought fleecy pjs from primark for £6 and they are perfect, so il be sending hubby back to get me some more for Xmas they are so warm. Loved my onsie but it's a killer needing a midnight pee and getting all cold! :(

Really windy today, dh is going out with the guys and I'm already in my fluffy pjs with the kids in our bed watching xmas films. So everything's been turned off and the thermostat turned down.

Will be watching the x factor on the iPad in bed to save on electric by not having the tv on.

Got lots of baking gifts done so far I have gingerbread people, sugar cookies cut into Xmas trees and stars with milk chocolate drizzled across them using a fork and they look really classy and I've baked various mince pies.
I've bought some plain boxes and some festive curling ribbons to give to family.

I've also switched our electric and gas supply to ebico and after I did some calculations we should be saving a good few pounds not being on a standing charge, as well as the house we are renovating as eon charged us for £1.80 electric gas £0.80 for three months but a whopping £40+in standing charges for an empty house!!!
I am no longer paying them for the privilege of using hardly anything for a house nobody is living in yet.

    Wrap up everyone.
