Ok ty, will hunt online for that. Went through back bedroom and found al the papers blown off the comp desk onto the floor. That's with double glazing shut tight too - a northerly blows right though this house lol

might be a point to close the trickle vents on that side of the house for now, i couldn't figure out why my bedroom upstairs was sooooo cold and my daughters was ok, i turned up my radiator all the way (oddly our upstairs is always colder, downstairs must be very very well insulated!) anyway the other night the gale was really blowing and i happened to be near the window and felt it blowing in at me!

went into my daughters room and felt nothing coming from hers at all, the normally the wind does blow from my side so i just shut mine for now, when the weather settles i'll open it again

we had some light spitting snow today when we were at the market, and i saw some about 2 weeks ago as well. it's been very very cold at night here so i am not that surprised really, loads of mornings with thick frost on the rooftops etc etc. thankfully no condensation on any of the windows and the hall curtains and front door curtain have made a huge difference to how warm it is in the hall (and still keeping out the neighbours ciggie stench, now if only we didn't have to hold our breath all the way down stairs when we go out!) so that's good, i still have to figure out the timer on the boiler as i've been very busy with work but i'm sure i will, another morning of waking up to a house at 12.5C should be the right amount of motivation :rotfl:

car is half way through MOT, trying not to worry about it too much! DD wants some waterproof gloves - she's 5, and all her gloves are woollen types, (which get soaking) and the only waterproof ones I have found in her size are mittens (which she won't wear) any ideas??
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)

Hi everyone, new poster here looking for some advice please. I have no radiator in my kitchen, so bought an electric convector heater. It has a frost protection setting on it, can anyone explain how this works? Should I leave the heater on frost protection setting overnight or on low so that it clicks on and off?

I would put it on the frost setting so it only clicks in when absolutely needed. :)

yes but it also includes a french market and for some years they've had a scottish section as well as rides and ice skating etc etc it's always festive and fun even if it is quite cold sometimes

they've got a new wheel this year, it looks more solid, is turned perpendicular to the old position so you can have a better view and the cabs are enclosed and look less, hmmm, wobbly :p might actually have to go on it this year, the old one was fun the first few times but then you just get cranky and cold after that :p[/QU OTE]

:j a great day out! I love the wheel and watching the skating.

What does your staple winter wardrobe contain?
As I have gained weight, I have 3 heavy ribbed cotton acrylic mix new jumpers, and one soft wool mix for nicer occasions. also one old acrylic for in the house.
3 pairs M and S black velour joggers for in the house, 1 new pair of jeans . from outlet shop. Old formal style trousers still fit, and I have last years unworn sale dress, black velevet and lace.
I moved the buttons on last years heavy wool charity shop coat so its still fits, and another charity one- danimac raincoat with separate padded lining.
My other best coat doesnt fit me!
I dont plan on being out much in the really bad weather, my excuse is , as yet unknown breast cancer treatment ahead.

I have the same problem from weight gain. I have 1 pair decent work trousers, a few work tops, 3 jumpers, no jeans (half a stone off would give me back 2 pairs!) and a couple of cardigans.

My wardrobe is very minimal which is my own fault as I have lots of lovely clothes which I could wear if I only lost 2 stone.

Best of luck with the BC treatment. Sending lots of ++++ (positive) thoughts your way :)

Sitting here with an Ikea sheepskin on my lap, it's lovely an toasty under here :-)
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • Lidl are selling kids ski gloves and mittens this week. Home Bargains usually sell ski gloves too. We've had a number of pairs and they've been great. Also had a good pair from Trespass.
